"She Liked You in March. It's October Now."

Attraction runs on a clock.

She flirted for weeks. Touched your arm. Found reasons to be alone with you. And you were careful. Respectful. Waiting for the right moment.

The moment had a shelf life. It expired around month two, and by the time you asked her out, she'd quietly filed you under "little brother."

One of the hardest lessons inside the 22 Rules: women rarely wait. Interest either grows or it decays, and nothing decays it faster than a man who never moves.

Make the move while she's still inventing reasons to be near you.

So...early in high school I was really into a girl I knew through mutual friends. I became close friends with her and spoke with her nearly every night on the phone. Being stupid and immature, I tried to gather whether she felt more for me through my friends rather than making a move early on like I should have. She wasn't interested and we drifted and eventually stopped talking.

Fast forward 7 years...

I find her on myspace and she just happens to have moved to my area recently. I message her a few times and we have a long conversation on the phone where she mentions a boyfriend over an hour into it. :trouble: I'm off the phone a few minutes after I hear about the boyfriend...

Fast forward 3-4 months...

She sends me an email asking how I'm doing and I send an obligatory reply. She text messages me a few days later and asks if I want to go see a movie tonight. I message her back and she says that she asked a couple of other people to come and one couldn't make it and the other didn't answer so it was just the two of us. I went and we talked a bit, but there were no fireworks or anything. I didn't ask about her boyfriend directly and she didn't bring him up in our conversation. I talked to her on the phone a few days ago again and she says she gets treated by a chiropractor she met through her boyfriend (she calls him by his name and doesn't refer to him as a boyfriend though). She texts me a few days later saying she wants to see another movie together and I said "sure, let's grab something to eat beforehand" to which she agreed. She says she'll hang out near the area we're supposed to meet at until I'm done with work.

Now, I have no idea if she has a boyfriend anymore, but it's hella shady if she does and she's eating dinner and going to the movies with other guys. What do you guys think? Is there a good chance she doesn't have one anymore or is considering dumping him or is she just doing something platonic with me or using me for attention?

I was thinking of meeting her for dinner and asking about her boyfriend frankly. If he's still in the picture, we both pay for our own meals and movies and I start breaking off contact with her.

"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.

Maybe she just wants to be your friend.

You said yourself that there was no inherent electricity when you met up with her again...so, why sweat it?

Are you trying to get with her?

If so, don't ask anyone's permission, and just tell her straight up..otherwise you'll be fooling yourself and her.

If you're only interested because she's a woman and you feel like you can't, by any means, have a real friendship with her...then, don't even bother telling her off or thinking about her.

I mean, you're sending completely mixed messages in your post...and if you can't live without this girl, then you shouldn't be taking that boyfriend sh*t seriously.

Yes, of course I like her, why else am I posting this. Your post is very confusing.

"only interested because she's a woman and you feel like you can't, by any means, have a real friendship with her...then, don't even bother telling her off or thinking about her."

What the hell is this about telling her off? I actually really like this girl. Why would I be telling her off?

Can anybody more intelligent respond?

Okay dude...

I don't have that good of news...

First of all the good news...
She is asking you out... Props... But she is asking you out because she is single and doesn't have that many friends in the area...

Do no ask her if she has a boyfriend. It will show you are interested. Then you will become less of a challenge...

I'm sure she is single. But look man women don't like to be alone... If you turn up your charm then you might have a chance. If you don't keep her challenged and give into her... In a month she'll be gone... Because something better come along...

Don't try to make her your girlfriend. Just try to **** her, period... Then maybe... make her your girlfriend. But I wouldn't stress that...

Tips...
Look your best... Be confident as you can!
If you have to watch a movie that will put you in the DJ mind set. For example Hitch or Groundhog Day....
Don't look into her eyes that much. (Shows interest)
Be funny...
Make up inside jokes...
Smile...
Flirt with other women while you are in public with her...

You can do this...

"I'm Not Looking for Anything Serious Right Now"

When a woman says it, guys hear a confession. A heads-up. A scheduling conflict.

Here's the translation: I don't feel anything. Right now. With you.

Watch what happens when a man triggers actual attraction. The busy career, the recent breakup, the "not in a place to date" — all of it evaporates instantly. The same woman who was guarding her freedom is suddenly free every night.

The "22 Rules" explain why. When the right switches flip, her timeline rearranges itself around you.
