"How I Made Sure No Woman Ever Friend-Zoned Me Again"

She calls you when her car breaks down. When she needs help moving. When some guy she's actually dating treats her badly.

You're the listener. The reliable one. The guy who would treat her so much better, if she'd just open her eyes.

She won't. You trained her to see you as the low-effort option — the friend who requires zero risk and zero investment. Every favor dug the hole deeper.

The "22 Rules" break the pattern. You'll stop auditioning for a role she already cast and become the man she chases instead. It starts with Rule 1.

any help my fellow dj's can give me will be appreciated.

"She Wants a Man, Not a Boy"

You asked her if she wanted to grab coffee. Then you asked if the time worked. Then you asked if the place was okay. Then you asked if she'd prefer tea.

Four questions. Four chances for her to say no. Four signals that you're terrified of making a decision.

Plan it. Pick the place. Pick the time. Tell her where to meet you. She'll either show up or she won't.

Either way, you look like a man instead of a scared little boy.

Just ask to meet for coffee after work, don't make it more difficult than it needs to be.

Here are some email streams from me and girls on myspace:
*note, the most recent is on top... so my first email to her is the bottom*

Anth,

wildside332005 on yahoo and [email protected] on msn. try me even if I appear off line, sometimes I just want 2 avoid certain people:)

Hard 2 pick 3 favorites because I love music, all kinds of music. If I was pressed 2 choose only 3 I'd pick Journey, Bon Jovi and Nickelback. Yes, I've seen all of them in concert (the Journey thing makes me sound so old but I was 10 and 11 when I saw them). I've seen them each at least twice and BonJovi in several states and countries!

Evaluation/persuasive writing, I have the essay written I just need 2 revise it. I don't like admitting that I'm not perfect but having to admit it 2 myself is painful! Revision stinks!

Jen,

So youd bring music... but what kind of music? What are you three favorite bands and, have you ever seen them in concert?

I would love to go 'down unda!' Id place an order for a new subaru while I was there, too :)

So... you SHOULD be working on an essay instead of chatting with me? Youre a procrastinator too, eh? Whats the assignment?

-Anth

By the way, do you have an instant message program, thats a helluva lot easier than email!

Anthony,

If u r as big of a hazard in the kitchen as u claim than I'm not so sure u should be trusted alone on an island with an open fire!

I'd have 2 bring music (cd player/radio), shampoo(nothing more irritating than sand and salt water in your hair) and a blanket (i'd get cold at night).

My dream vacation would be 10 weeks discovering the beauty Down-Under (Australia). I've always wanted 2 go.

As far as the buffalo bar scene goes... I have one word... Sleezy (yuck). MySpace is worse... in fact being single really kinda sucks but I guess u've gotta kiss a few frogs 1st, huh?

Anyway, I've got 2 get working on this essay.

Talk w/ya soon, Jen

Jen,

Women dont realize how unbelievably enticing the phrase "waffle iron" really is. Im actually quite teh hazard in the kitchen... starting fires (on my clothes, especially) making messes, its terrible :)

Girls these days... hrmmm. Well Ive been on close to thirty first dates this past year and honestly - girls are just boring. It seems like everyone I meet has nothing new or exciting to say? Maybe thats the problem with the buffalo bar scene?

Well... actually... my dream vacation would be to spend a week on my own tropical island with nothing but a 'Frige filled with healthy food, utensils to help cook over a fire, and a hammok. I could use a week of peace, ya know? How about you (what would you bring to youre desert island, and what is youre dream vacation?)

Anthony,

My specialty is a pork loin roast glazed with peach and ginger, I love to make roast beef w/roasted potatoes 2. I make a mean omelete and I really do have a waffle iron. I'm not martha stewert but I do ok.

The candles r ginger currant...seeing a pattern? Sweet and spicy, lol:)

I have seen how 2 lose a guy in 10 days, u poor thing, u seem fantastic...what's wrong w/girls these days?

I'd have lunch w/ Bill, but I'm afraid I'd have to wear a blue dress and a wire tap (hehe)!!!

If u were stranded on a desert island what 3 non-essential things would u bring?

Jen,

Well, thanks for reading my info... im impressed :)

Boston is so beautiful and cultured, its hard to imagine while youre out at a bar that hundreds of years ago, before there was an america, men were drinking their beers just the same.

Its funny you say that... a friend of mine just got back from a trip to pakistan to check out a med school over there... fathers invited him over to check out their daughters for marriage... a few times.

ECC is a smart move... its sooo much less expensive than anything else in the area.

Define "pretty good" cook, Im incredibly interested :)

I been able to relax in a bath in almost a year... lifes been so crazy lately. I wonder, what scent are the candles by youre bathtub?

I take it you saw... how to lose a guy in 10 days? That poor guy! Reminds me of some of the dates Ive been on lately. I would have a cookout with bill clinton. We wouldnt talk politics (I got enough of that from half his book)... I just think hed be a fun guy to shoot the **** with.

Youre turn... ask me something fun

That's really sad that girls don't read your profile:( It's a good read!

Ahh, I know the visa thing too well. I was marrird 2 a british man 4 many years and lived in England. I wanted 2 come home but as soon as he got his green card and a new american woman, he left. His loss, so... we will move on, lol.

I love the city of Boston, visited once and it was the only city I ever really thought "I could live here" about. Enjoy your school years and all your travel, u r so lucky. But try and control the urge 2 bring yourself home a europeon beauty;-)

I'm doing Early Childhood Ed at ECC and going to transfer to UB after for K-2. I'm a pretty good cook and I love giving and receiving back rubs plus I like to have a candle lit bubble bath now and then.

I would do lunch with President Bush at an abortion clinic... no just kidding. I'd do lunch with Matthew McConahay on a yacht at the Great Barrier Reef...just because they r both so beautiful! No seriously, I'd have 2 give that one some careful consideration. How about u?

Jen

Jen,
Its ok, about the model thing... I actually met an eastern european immigrant (local)model a few months ago... she was the most boring date of my life! And she wanted to get married before her student visa was up .

Anyways... the way to a mans heart is thru his stomach... and a good cook is sexier than some add-model any day. And it doesnt hurt if you can give a good back rub, either :)

Im incredibly impressed, youre the first girl whose actually read my profile! Im transferring to Babson, in Boston, Mass. Ill be moving to italy for an academic year starting in 08, and Ill be in london the summer of 07, switzerland sometime inbetween. Where are you studying elementary ed?

Ive got another good question for ya... if you could 'do lunch' with anyone, who would it be and where would you go?

"Why Women Dump the Guys Who Try the Hardest"

You paid for dinner. You drove. You said "whatever you want is fine" every single time. All the effort, no expectations.

And she left anyway — probably for a guy who makes her pick up the pizza.

Painful. Also predictable. Her mind quietly concludes that anything requiring zero effort from her is worth exactly zero. You became a free sample, and free samples get taken for granted.

The 22 Rules flip the dynamic. Small shifts that get her investing effort, money, and time in you — until SHE'S the one afraid of losing YOU.

Here is some actual advice:

Basically - go from emails to real time msging (AIM) then # then 'hang out' then 'date'

KEEP IN MIND:
When you ask for a stronger form of communication (from msging to #, or from # to meeting, for example) ALWAYS BE HONEST. "I really enjoy talkin with you, and if you'd want to chat on the phone so we could match our voices with our personalities, I would really like that"

ALWAYS WARN THEM AS TO WHEN YOU WILL CALL!!! I cannot stress this enough. If you call a girl you have never met at a random time IT WILL NOT GO WELL. "Well Ill talk to you soon! I get home from work around four, Ill give you a call in the evening"

DONT ask for a stronger form of communication right away, especially during the first phone call. It usually takes 2 warm up phone calls to allow you to easily set up a meeting (without having to hear any excuses).

REMEMBER! Its not a date, its a get together, no pressure. Dont open with kino or IOIs. Dont compliment her shoes when you first see her. Shes a new friend, treat her as such. IOI during the END of the meeting and hint towards another. This time tho, when you call her you dont have to warn her and you should be BLATENT about youre intentions... invite her for ice cream and a movie, for instance. I ahve found this system avoids akwardness while still staying out of hte friends zone. Hope I helped.
