"She Liked You in March. It's October Now."

Attraction runs on a clock.

She flirted for weeks. Touched your arm. Found reasons to be alone with you. And you were careful. Respectful. Waiting for the right moment.

The moment had a shelf life. It expired around month two, and by the time you asked her out, she'd quietly filed you under "little brother."

One of the hardest lessons inside the 22 Rules: women rarely wait. Interest either grows or it decays, and nothing decays it faster than a man who never moves.

Make the move while she's still inventing reasons to be near you.

So here's the deal- I've been lurking here for almost a year now, and I figured I'd never realy need to post, since this board covers such a range of others' problems, mine would probably be covered. Seems I was wrong.

So after last year (I am a sophomore) I began to turn my life around. I got in shape, and became out going. So far, so good.

Then, the first day of school rolls around, and I'm determined to make a great first impression. I do. I'm on top of the world. There is a chick in one of my classes who can't stop laughing at anything I say, and I would've thought was totally out of my league. Here's where things go wrong. She was clearly into me- I didn't even know her name (our seats got assigned the next day) and she would say things at the end of class like "YOU, have a great weekend." Obvious. I know. But I was so smug, I figured the opportunity would always be there, and I got preoccupied with another chick and other things.

So time goes by, and she loses interest. Not only that, some things in my life get screwed up, and something peculiar happens- I can never seem to be "on my game" when I need to be. It's either there, or it's not, and when it's not are times that are most inconvenient. I became inconsistent. Recently, I've gotten it to start working on command, but I just don't have that spark.

Recently, our seats got reassigned, and we seat next to each other and are lab partners. But there are two big catches-

1) I have my game back, but its still just not 100%. I don't know what the problem is. But I've been making her laugh a lot anyway. (She likes the dirty jokes, my specialty.) But I feel like I'm slipping into the friend zone, and that's definitely not where I want to be. How do I stop this before it happens?

2) She sits on my bad side. I became self-conscious about it since I noticed it- my left and right side are like night and day in attractiveness. I already asked the guy on the other side to switch with me for some BS reason about him being taller and abler to see better over the people in front of me. He declined.

So I need to really turn up the heat to make up for my bad side.

Thanks in advance for struggling through my long post. Normally I'd let the lost opportunity go, but since I'm next to her now, it seems like too good of a chance to fix it to pass up.

"She's Out of Your League"

You've said it a hundred times. Maybe a thousand. And every time you say it, you train your brain to freeze the next time she walks into the room.

Leagues are a myth invented by guys who are scared of women.

She's a person. She has bad breath in the morning. She picks songs she can't sing in the shower. She overthinks her own texts.

Walk over. Say something. The league dissolves the second you open your mouth.

The "friend's zone" sucks. Pretty much. I got to assasinate the boyfriend first, and then play the sympathy card.

"She Made Her Decision Before You Finished Your Sentence"

Three seconds. That's how long it took. Your shoes. Your posture. The way you held your drink. Whether you looked at the floor or looked at her.

She already filed you away. Interesting. Boring. Safe. Bold. Before you even opened your mouth.

Everything you say after that is just her confirming what she already decided.

So stop rehearsing lines. Fix the first three seconds. Stand tall. Look up. Smile like you mean it. Walk like you belong wherever you're standing.

The words come later. The impression comes first.

Hang out with her, alone. It should do the trick.

I'm not in the Friend Zone yet, but I fear that's where I'm slipping. I need a good way to make sure that doesn't happen while I get my game back.

She likes dirty jokes- my specialty, which gives me plenty of chance to slip in innuendos, but I don't know if she sees them as advances or just as the normal kind of jokes she hears.

Hang out with her! Alone. That is where you should make your move.

Make it known to her. That is the place to curtail out of the friendszone!!
