Sorry, I just can't take it anymore! I'm watching that new show 'Counterpart' and here's a description of the last two scenes:
1. One of the main characters is a female assassin. She goes to a bar, the waitress notices that the woman is attracted to her so she starts flirting with her and invites her to a party. (it's not my interpretation, the assassin is definitely lesbian coz she was sleeping with another woman before)
2. One of the characters is investigating the death of some guy. So he shows up at some dude's house (at this point it is unclear to the audience who this dude is) and tells him he knew the dead guy and wants to talk about him. So they go inside and we find out that the dude was secretly having an affair with the dead guy...
Jesus fvcking christ, two consecutive scenes where we get confronted with lesbian/gay characters. Seriously, if nowadays' tv shows were an indicator for homosexuality prevalence in society, it'd mean that at least 50% or more of the people are lesbian/gay.
It's fvcking sick you know? I don't neccesarily mean homosexuality itself, but the unrelenting bombardment of homosexuality in tv shows... TV shows should be all about entertainment, not about pushing social-political agendas. If you want to fight for the gay cause, do so by making a documentary or whatever! But what they're doing now, is ABUSING good tv shows to push that agenda... I watch this show because it has good acting, good story, I like the violence and action etc. That's why a person watches the show, for his entertainment, not to be confronted with social-political messages. If a person is interested in that, he wil watch a documentary about the subject or watch a tv show/movie that is specifically aimed at homosexuality like Brokeback Mountain.
Now, we don't get to choose . It's the same in any major tv show, even fvcking Star Trek has two gay main characters!!
And this social-political message doesn't simply come on top of the entertainment, no it actually dimishes the entertainment. See, a good tv show makes you identify with the characters. Rule no1 in good shows/movies. If you don't empathize with the characters, it doesn't matter what they do or what happens to them, you just won't feel drawn into the story because you can't relate to the characters in it.
For example, this lesbian killer got sold out by her lover, they had sex and then the lover took her gun from her purse and left her house. Next thing, the bad guys showed up to kill her and she reached for her gun and it wasn't there. She survived the hit anyway... So as a viewer we are supposed to be shocked by this betrayal, but I totally wasn't. Why? Because I cannot relate to these characters! The idea that two people of the same gender have a relationship, they care about each other, have sex and sleep together all night is just too far removed from my personal experiences in life. I simply cannot relate to it...
This way, I am being robbed of enjoying a show which is very entertaining in other areas. I almost feel like ignoring these scenes and these storylines, they do nothing for me but waste my time and annoy me, rob me of the experience of enjoying a good show...
SHAME ON YOU, you fvcking puppets over there in Hollywood, for betraying the purpose which tv shows have, namely TO ENTERTAIN, and poison them with your social-political messages instead!!!
