Listen guys, first I need to clear something up because I am sure I will get replies like "if you have no game, the car is not going to change that."

I am not so stupid as to think the car will get the chick. it's not like I expect to pull up, say "sup girl?" and she will be attracted to me. in fact, I want to avoid gold diggers 100%. ever since I can remember, I hated gold diggers. I want a girl who wants me for who I am. BUT after I have talked to her and she likes me, it's time to show her my car. I don't want to be ashamed of my car. That's the point where I want to hear "nice car" from her. Also, as much as I would like to think I am not a materialistic person, your materials will make a difference in your confidence. I have been fighting this and trying to convince myself otherwise. But they do. especially here in LA. I just bought a nice watch and my social anxiety went down and my confidence went up.

I am in the market for a car. my first car. I am 33 years old. I live in Los Angeles.

I don't know much about cars. until I got in the market, I couldn't tell the difference between a honda and a ferrari. to me, all cars looked the same, kind of like how all German Shepherds look the same to you.

every couple of weeks, I fall in love with a car and feel sure that's the car I want. then, after a couple of weeks, I start not liking that car and liking something else.

right now I have eliminated my choices to infiniti g37 coupe and jeep wrangler. someone told me don't get the g37 coupe because it's a "wanna be" car - he told me to get a jeep wrangler because it's more masculine. some people say g37 coupe is a "pretty boy's car" something like that.

even before he told me, I felt like a lot of irresponsible, knuckleheads drive this car. like those crazy people that put holes in their earlobes and have tattoos and look like they are in a gang. That's the last impression I want to make. I am a responsible gentleman. good grades in school, shy.

I have never test drove a jeep wrangler but an associate of mine told me that car is not for me, he said it doesn't fit my personality. the guy that recommended the jeep wrangler said do get it because your personality is not set in stone and you are transforming by buying new clothes and getting a jeep. (went shopping with him for new clothes couple of days ago)

so I have given you all the information I feel is relevant. I am not sure what question I have. You tell me the answer to the questions that you believe I have.

oldmanofthesea, thanks for your contribution to my other question.

I also live where you are and I've been (used to be) a huge car guy, had exotics to jalopys to everything in between. I still love cars of all sorts. Raced and built cars my younger years. Anyway, on my way to the race tracks I'd get tons of comments on my cars from other car guys mostly but some women too. There was only one time I got flashed by some girls when I was cruising and another time an escort pulled up asking if I was looking for a good time. No other panty drop moments.

In my entire adult life anyone worth dating long term didn't care about what I drove. Sure they commented they were nice cars when I drove nice cars but it wouldn't have made an ounce of difference what I drove as long as I was financially sound and comfortable. So my two parting suggestions are:

1. Don't stretch yourself to get a nice car and be on a shaky financial foundation otherwise.
2. Buy a car that defines you (sedan, sports car, truck etc).

Wranglers are not bad btw depending on the model years but definitely do your research
G37s are nice cars if you like them, again, buy what you like and what represents you. To me it's meh, but then I'm about a decade older than you are.

well, I am mentally clear...my question is obvious, what car should I get/why/which will make me more confident, all that stuff.

Only you can answer that question. A vehicle only adds to a mans existing personal confidence.

not true. You're telling me if your friend let you borrow his lamborghini and you drove it for a day, your confidence wouldn't go up that day? you wouldn't start acting more confident? you wouldn't start acting less needy? you wouldn't care less about a girl's opinion of you? your self-worth wouldn't go up? self-image?
your material things definitely make a difference in your confidence.

Yes, but they are not where your core confidence resides, they’re only small add ons. The amount and quality of add ons men need vary greatly. It’s an individual decision. Real confidence can’t be bought, it has to be manufactured by experience inside you…

I literally just recommended the G37/Q60 to you in your other thread lol. You're going to get absolutely terrible MPG with a Wrangler in L.A.

So your budget is around $12-$15k.

Unless you want to go older, your best bet is the G37/Q60. It's hard to buy a luxury car/performance car in that price range and that year. You could also check out Nissan 370z's.

If you frequently change opinions about a car that you like, leasing is an option.

what mpg should I expect from the wrangler? I know the official mpg is 17 but I understand that you can't trust the official mpg

Have never driven an Infiniti but I like the way they look and Imight be shopping for one soon.

Owned a 2008 Jeep Wrangler and loved it and women liked it too, but storage space is horrible and in my opinion any Jeep with less than 33" tires and 3 inches of lift looks feminine to me. Also, as mentioned, fuel efficiency is horrible.

At 33 years old I think it's hard to go wrong. Either one is a winner in my opinion.

Make no mistake: cars ARE status symbols and women will notice, but in my opinion the key is to make sure that your ride is clean, inside and out. In my mind, the way you MAINTAIN your vehicle is more impressive than what you drive.

Another key: I drive a BMW 5 series NEVER mention to women what I drive unless they ask. I let them SEE what I drive without ever even even mentioning it, and in my experience doing this can often make them wetter than a fish (even though most women pretend like it doesn't matter).
that's what i hear about BMWs. I just don't want to waste my money on a bmw. lease or purchase, it's so much money.
so in your opinion, which would get a woman wetter, a jeep wrangler or infiniti g37 coupe (aka q60)?

Closer to 14 in the city with around 22 highway. LA traffic can be heavy so you might see 13.

So on average, 17 is actually accurate.

There is a 4cyl turbo model available that gets closer to 20 but it's only available on the newer models.

It's interesting because that low MPG comes from the cars design, not necessarily the power train.

The G37/Q60 gets around 17 in the city and upwards of 25 highway. You also get the performance benefits of it too.

I'm selling my Jeep. I'm replacing starter #4 in it and I've only owned it for 3 years. I need a reliable vehicle that isn't going to leave my ass stranded, so I went and bought a Ford.
