I just came across this while browsing some local sites, and actually remembered reading about this in the NEWS last year (I am somewhat local to the area where it happened). So yes, this is a true story, not a scam. I remember getting teary eyed reading the paper, because it was just such a sad story. Reading what has happened since... well, I don't really even know what to say. Just help if you can, they aren't even asking a lot.

I feel like this is a great place to post this, because who can't relate to what has happened here? I plan on posting in other places, but I feel like this forum is actually the best place for it.

If you want to make sure it is for real, just google the guy's name, the stories will come up, and the lady who is hosting the story is a realtor in the area where it happened, a family friend I believe. Part of me feels like it is no way to live, but it has only been a year, so who knows.

Agreed, though there's some on the mature forum that will view us as being selfish....

Seriously, I remember reading about this story some time back. It's moving, and just goes to remind each one of us, to be thankful for what we have. To be grateful that we are well to enjoy life.
