"She Laughed All Night. Then She Ghosted You. Here's Why."

Dinner ran three hours. She laughed at everything. You walked her to her car thinking this one's locked in.

Then: nothing. Two texts. No reply. What happened?

You did what most men do on a great date. You filled every silence, answered every question, and left her with nothing to wonder about. No mystery. Nothing to sit with when she got home.

Rule 3 of the "22 Rules" changes the ending: tell her a little, hold back the rest, and let her imagination do the chasing. The ghosting stops too.

ok heres the problem...

i ask this girl ive been talking to casually at lunch for like more than half the school year with a group of friends to prom last wednesday. she seemed to be excited but she told me she was going with like 5 of her girl friends.

then we go to prom and it didnt turn out all that hot. i asked her to dance once or twice but she said something like not now or she was talking with her friends. she then danced but with her girl friends. then she knew i was a little pissed so she danced with me for like 5 mins. then she went back to dancing with her girl friends.

she even gave me signs that it wasnt going to happen without actually telling me. she talks about this other guy and says he loves her i think is what i heard. then she started kind of fake flirting with the guy friend i had there that she is also friends with so i knew it was fake flirting. she like talked to him more and engaged in some kino with him but nothing sexual.
so ya she gave me signs that it wasnt going to happen.

here is where i mess up. 3 days later right before school ends i text her saying i wanted to meet her. i was going to ask her out. Don't ask i knew it wasnt a good idea. then my friend tells me that she told him that he was supposed to tell me to nicely say if i was going to ask her out, no. but at this point i already texted her and then shes like why what do you want to talk about? now that i knew it was 100% a bad idea to talk i said nm. she thought i said not much instead of never mind. so she said where do you want to meet. so i think she still actually wants to talk for some reason. i meet her and we just talk about random crap for lik 2 mins it was akward. i didnt ask her out. then she texts me after saying what did you rly want to talk about. then texts me before i reply saying i heard you were going to ask me out but i didnt know if you knew i have a boy friend. and then im like ya thats why i said nm not not much. i text her saying its all good if you want to talk about it on the phone its cool. the reason i was acting akward is a find out and thought you still wanted to meet when i said nm.

so at this point its really wierd. you would all probably tell me to just move on to a new girl but thats not my point here. i want to maintain the friend status now. and with her friends which are my friends too.. any advice?

the next day i go to the same spot with the group of friends and her and i pretend like nothing happened. we seem to talk normally but she didnt rly talk directly at me much at all.

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

Act friendly, make jokes (jokes are good to getting people friendly/comfortable), act as much as you were before as possible, you know, she could even be thinking the same thing as you...

Just be normal around her. If it feels awkward then stop stop it being awkward. Awkwardness is something created between two people, and it only takes one person to end it.
