Master Don Juan
Nice one man, and yeah we sometimes get advanced and play the game at a higher understanding that we forget about the basics...so fundamental. Thanks man, I think I needed to read that right about now.
You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.
For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.
Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.
The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.
I could talk to any woman I wasn't attracted to. Charming, funny, relaxed. Then a gorgeous woman looked my way and I'd become a sweating, babbling mess.
The fix took me years to find and ten minutes to learn. Nervousness and excitement are the same physical state — pounding heart, adrenaline, flushed face. Your brain just picks the label. And you can pick a better one.
Rule 16 shows you how. You feel the nerves, relabel them as excitement, and let that energy pour out as enthusiasm. Women notice the guy radiating it. They always do.
She asks it casually, mid-sip. And you feel the floor open up, because the honest answer is work, gym, and a couple shows you're half-watching.
Women rarely say this out loud, but a man with a life is attractive before he says a word. The guy who spent Saturday deep-sea fishing and came back with photos and a story — he walks in already interesting.
The "22 Rules" pushed me to build a life worth talking about. Turns out the fastest way to be interesting to women is to be interested in your own life first.
What works for me at the mall (or anywhere if I'm alone) is just working my way up. Getting in state. It's best to start being social the second you get there. The more you think about something the chance of you actually going through with it lowers.LearningSlowly said:God DAMNIT. Another mall fail.
I go in and see a cute girl sitting alone on her phone. I ***** out and decide I'm too hungry and go to get food. After I get it, another cute girl sitting alone. I'm a PVSSY. I eat alone and start roaming.
Seriously no hot girls around. It was awful. I saw one two set, they walked out of a store as I walked in, I turn and walk out, psyched to approach, an then I see them standing and talking with another girl and 3 moms. I pvssy out.
I see one hot girl with a very ugly friend. I walk past then say NO, put the virtual gun to my head! I've kept walking this whole time, so when I finally grow balls I'm already 50 ft away. I pvssy out.
I finally manage to say hey how are you to 3 different women walking by (youngest was probably 30) and they just look at me strangely and say hi and walk. I really need a friend around for these.
Three seconds. That's how long it took. Your shoes. Your posture. The way you held your drink. Whether you looked at the floor or looked at her.
She already filed you away. Interesting. Boring. Safe. Bold. Before you even opened your mouth.
Everything you say after that is just her confirming what she already decided.
So stop rehearsing lines. Fix the first three seconds. Stand tall. Look up. Smile like you mean it. Walk like you belong wherever you're standing.
The words come later. The impression comes first.
Each to his own. You did argue rather poorly might I add. He's a writer on HSG and a good friend of mine. He'll see whatever there is to see if he sees fit.LearningSlowly said:I butted heads with a highschoolpua member over Facebook today. He (and many kids on this site, and that I meet in real life) just don't get it. There's more to life than winning. There is a divinity present every moment of our lives. I make art to try and capture it. If you don't believe there is any divinity in the universe, rethink your life.
That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?
She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."
She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.
I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.
Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.
Willpower here!I sat in my car. "Should I have kissed her? I said I was going to... Why didn't I?" I shudder. I feels like I'm walking alone through a mall full of strangers. My belly tightens and I can't think. "Now's the time. Be ballsy." I open my car door.
I walk over to her car without taking the keys out of my ignition. I tap on her window. She opens her door out toward me. I get closer.
"I forgot to do something."
Lean in for a kiss, then another one, harder. I turn and walk away. "Okay bye!" she says behind me. I kissed her pretty hard, I felt it on my lips for half an hour of driving after that.
So it wasn't a bj. I didn't escalate to an clothes-off close. It also didn't seem like she expected any sort of move at all. Oh well, I made one. Maybe someday I'll see her again. Maybe I won't.
"In general its always a good idea to make a move."
