"The Kiss of Death Mistake"

You replay the conversation at 2 a.m. She texted back fast yesterday. Today, nothing. Was that smile friendly or flirty? What did the shoulder touch mean?

Every hour you spend decoding her signals drains your confidence and hands her the controls. Women can sense that insecurity from across the room — and it repels them.

One of the "22 Rules" kills the obsession on the spot: assume she likes you, and act accordingly. Sounds too simple. Works anyway.

Her interest tends to rise to meet your expectations. Psychologists call it a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Well after replying to several Discussion threads I have to make one of my own. It seems a lot of newbies and even Recovering AFC's are not correcting one of the basic mistakes in communicating with women.

Mistakes:
1) Talking too much.
2) Talking weakly.
3) Putting her needs first. (this affects how you communicate)

Now all these things have been duscussed before on several tip threads but I don't remember ever seeing any lately or one that includes all these tips. So here goes.

1) Talking too much makes you sound nervous. It also causes you to say way too much. Which means you'll say things you really really shouldn't have said. For example: "I really really like you. I've liked you for a long time." Don't tell her this, all she needs to know is your interested. If you say more it just gives her power. Imagine giving her ammunition to shoot you down with. The less she knows about your feelings the better. I'm not saying act like a cold dead fish. No, when you take her out have a blast, joke, laugh, sing, but do not start talking like a 14 year old with his first crush. Men do not have crushes, we have interests.

2) Talking weakly is well, weak. You are a man not a boy. You talk like a man, and that means your voice should have power and strength portrayed in it. It's been said before but it needs to be repeated. Especially talking on the phone requires a strong voice. Imagine your voice being the hammer. She talks and talks and talks, but whenever you talk it should cut through whatever she is saying. The sound of your voice should shut her up. If you both start talking, keep talking. Don't stop and say "go ahead". What you are saying is usually more important. She does most of the talking but when you say something it should mean more.

3) If you call you do not have to ask her what she is doing. When you call a girl you call for a reason. Joke a little but get to the point with a few minutes. Get your answer, be it asking her on a date, answers to a question, what color shirt goes with your tie, whatever. If she says she's busy right now, tell her you just had a question. Say your question and get off the phone. If she wants to talk that's what a date is for. Don't let her find out what kind of person you are without being around you. I say this because your presance has a powerful affect on a girl. If you are on a date with her there is your sound, smell, feel, looks, and the feeling of your presance. These things can really affect her attraction to you.

I hope this helps you out. It seems phone calls are not discussed in very much depth except for "calling is for setting up dates". A lot of times when i call up a girl for the first time I try to make it a different kind of conversation. Something that will spark her interest again so that she remembers why she gave me the # in the first place.

"She Wants a Man, Not a Boy"

You asked her if she wanted to grab coffee. Then you asked if the time worked. Then you asked if the place was okay. Then you asked if she'd prefer tea.

Four questions. Four chances for her to say no. Four signals that you're terrified of making a decision.

Plan it. Pick the place. Pick the time. Tell her where to meet you. She'll either show up or she won't.

Either way, you look like a man instead of a scared little boy.

it's true the 3 points

I agree with your 3 points of conversation, especially the 1st.

i used to be total AFC to this girl last year. I have a feeling she had high IL in me to begin with, i told her lots of things, things that made me sound like a wimp. when you talk a lot to a girl, things will "accidently" slip out from your mouth, without realizing the consequences.

i also put her needs first, in return she stepped on me, asked me for favors for her success in school. cause she thought "hey why not, he's a nice guy, im sure he'd be glad to help me out." i even fed her ego by complimenting her.

she tried to pull that **** on me again this semester even if im not in any of her classes. she called me 2x last week to help her w/stuff, i say NO im busy, "c'mon i treat you to lunch" NO im busy. last week i saw her, and she didnt even really greet me. i think the only reason why she's nice to ppl at all, her sole purpose is to use them. and if she find out she cant use them, then she'll act like she doesnt know you. but truthfully, i think she's those 1 in a million type of attention *****s.

luckily slowly as the semester ended, my AFC days were over.
now whichever girl i talk to even if it's a female friend, i limit what i say. cut the convo's to a few sentences. and yea when u talk less it helps keep their interest up, because they dont know eveything about you.

That #1 talking too much is a problem of mines. I try to control it sometimes but my blabber mouth just starts going. I'm getting better at controlling my impulsiveness to speak though nowadays .

ScrewIt, I'm glad you came around and had a first hand experience with phone conversations that fvcked you over. A lot of guys don't even think of how they act on the phone, but if you ever get a chance have someone record a conversation they had with you, without you knowing. Just tell someone to randomly record one of your phone conversations. You'd be amazed at how you sound. Then with the info you could change how you talk and how you converse to be a much more affective speaker. It'll get you more dates too.

Phone numbers are easy to get, dates are not. Being good on the phone will increase the amount of dates you will have.

"I'm Not Looking for Anything Serious Right Now"

When a woman says it, guys hear a confession. A heads-up. A scheduling conflict.

Here's the translation: I don't feel anything. Right now. With you.

Watch what happens when a man triggers actual attraction. The busy career, the recent breakup, the "not in a place to date" — all of it evaporates instantly. The same woman who was guarding her freedom is suddenly free every night.

The "22 Rules" explain why. When the right switches flip, her timeline rearranges itself around you.
