Ryan Reynolds has obviously been bulking up since his Van Wilder days. My goal is to someday look like this. What are some tips to have that as an end result. Some people have WAY too big of arms for their own good and they just look goofy. Or is he so tall that it just spreads out so well

So would I have to cut out junk foods entirely and work on my arms and abs just about every day?

1 - abdominals have very little potential for hypertrophy. I'm serious. The guys you see with abs have low bodyfat, nothing else. Working your abs directly will not give you a 6 pack. It's the spot reduction myth.

2. Train arms every day and you'll look like ****. If you don't give them chance to repair the damage done, they will never get bigger. Indeed, they may actually get smaller.

3. Have you any idea how idiotic you would look with big arms and abs? Let me tell you something - it's great to be proportioned. Having big legs is great, I recommend it to everyone. Having lats and capped shoulders is also wonderful, for that V taper. I'm gifted enough to have a tiny waist - even at 12% bodyfat my waist is 28.5" but the V taper makes it look even smaller. Working out isn't just about training things two things. Your body will not grow properly unless you train all of it.

I don't know what your genetics, phenotype, training tolerance, diet, rest schedule, access to gym is like. But if someone with the average of all of the above told me they wanted to look like that I'd say about a year.

Can't load the link you gave me but last time I checked Reynolds was nothing special physique wise, a little muscle and a low bodyfat.

If you know how to diet and train you could achieve that look in six months to a year (more or less depending how you are now).

You'll have to eat a high-protein, squeaky clean diet and do plenty of cardio (notice you'll never see any of this hollywood stars having any quads to speak of - running themselves to a low bodyfat eats up legs) and get on a push/pull/legs program.

Nothing special at all, and very achievable if that's the look you want.

I hate you. Ah well, abs are overrated. Someone get me some cheesecake.

Capped shoulders are genetic though - not everyone can achieve them.

You got a lot of good points, but I don't think it would take a year for the average guy (average = not fat nor thin, average genes) to get to that point. C'mon, that guy is 6' and looks around 170-175 lbs in that pic. He's got no big muscles, he's an athletic ripped guy, nothing more.

P.s.: what are capped shoulders?

I just started working out this week. I'm all pumped up.
This guys' body is what I'm looking to get to as well.

right now I'm 6' and 180 lbs. I used to be way skinny (140 ish ) but I quit smoking a year ago. Then I Started eating all wrong and WAM! Here I am! Not fat. Just not in real good shape.

Now it's time to undo some of what's been done! I'd like to shed the fat and end up with that dudes body with my head.......lol

Does anyone think I have a chance? I'm using the BodyMax system as my guide.

Yes, it impress the ladies, but just at the beach... With clothes on, you'd look thin/average with that body.

Awwwwwwwwwwwww Hel*! I don't wanna look average!

But! As Mystery pointed out, there are alot of ways to Peakock... At least (with a bod like that) if you decide to try something off the wall (like a funky hat, over style with Gold), you'll have the body to back it up with......lol

One more thing........ THAT kind of average looking is definately ok with me ! It sure beats the average I look at each morning in the mirror..........:woo:

Ryan Reynolds was less than 3% bodyfat in Blade: Trinity. I'd like to look like him too, but I don't have any steroids.

1. You won't have nothing to back it up with, unless you're sporting some really tight clothes. You can be sure that with regular clothes on, you'll look exactly like an average fit guy, nothing more. His shoulders are not larger than my neighbours' and his pecs and arms, although well defined, are not big at all.

Reynold is with no doubt between 8% and 10%, not less.

Well he put on 40 lbs of muscle for Blade Trinity I wouldn't exactly call him a average joe.

The more I look at him the more I feel that he's a lot smaller than he looks. The natural light coming in from overhead is doing him a lot of favours - it's adding at least 7-8lbs of muscle by that. He's at about 10% too, nowhere near 3 or whatever it was.

But yeah, what you guys were saying about looking avg in clothes is true. I've been training around four years now and it's only in the last year or so that you can see that I'm "trained" through my clothes.

He put on 40 lbs of muscle, are you kidding me, did you fall on your head like 15 times? Do you know how much 40 lbs of lean mass is. an IFBB pro who juices like crazy cant put on that much mass in a year.

Also aside from that he is an actor, he get millions to do that stuff, it would be easy if you didn't have to work, you could afford a nutritionist and chef. there is an article in Men;s Health with him right after blade I will scan it in if you guys want

FURTHERMORE, he is not at 3% body fat, are you kidding me, if he was at 3 percent, his body would look like he got hit by a spaghetti truck, he would have veins everywhere, lines ALL over his body, she shoulders and his chest and his arms. he is a solid 9-10% with a good tan and really good lighting.

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.
