"I'm Not Looking for Anything Serious Right Now"

When a woman says it, guys hear a confession. A heads-up. A scheduling conflict.

Here's the translation: I don't feel anything. Right now. With you.

Watch what happens when a man triggers actual attraction. The busy career, the recent breakup, the "not in a place to date" — all of it evaporates instantly. The same woman who was guarding her freedom is suddenly free every night.

The "22 Rules" explain why. When the right switches flip, her timeline rearranges itself around you.

OR... "The Mystery Of Shyness"

I was wondering about WHY we're scared of talking to strangers, girls in particular.

Well, the thing is, for me, I'm not scared of talking to women any more than men. I realised pretty quickly that there was no point in treating them differently, because nothing could get me any worse off than I was: entirely single. So why was I shy? It's not about desire, for sure. I was shy to guys as well.

I'm steadily getting better at it, anyway - all you need is to keep pushing yourself and being more and more daring, don't beat yourself up if you can't do something, just keep pushing your comfort zone AS HARD AS YOU CAN.

But WHY did/(do) I find it difficult to talk to people?

I was listening to David Deangelo's Mastery program (the only one which is actually worth the huge amount of money you would pay as a nice, law abiding citizen who doesn't stream things off the net with a bitTorrent tracker like this one: http://azureus.sourceforge.net/ and find torrent files by searching google for a few keywords and the word "torrent" -- I really advise you to try it. ...The Mastery Program that is. I do not condone thievery). This program went into a talk about STATUS. In the wild, a group has a hierarchy which stops the individuals fighting each other. They fight once, the winners get status, then the fighting stops as the individuals accept their new place in the pecking order. (This insures the survival of the species as interfighting is much less of a threat. It also decides which male is strongest and therefore a worthy mate). They demonstrate submissive body language towards their superiors, feel obliged to do as they command, and avoid their gaze.

I suspect now that shyness is not fear of any particular outcome - though it can come to manifest itself in that way - but a feeling of low status. You avoid other's eyecontact, submit to others, etc. You do not speak to your superiors without being spoken to first.

The way to break this is to challenge others' position as your "superiors". Don't break eyecontact until they do. Start conversations with them (because the LEADER says the FIRST WORDS). It's not a logical thing, no-one thinks of this hierarchy, but it's instinctual. Think of it! You're scared of a GIRL who has to LOOK UP to stare you in the eyes? You give her the power, the status, because you want what she can give you.

Did you read the articles in the DJ bible about collecting rejections? These guys noticed that the more rejections you get the more good things seem to come your way. No wonder, if you decide to break your position in your instinctual social hierarchy and suddenly start talking to people first.. you become high status in your mind... this comes through in your language... and she becomes wet because you're now an ALPHA MALE.

PS If you liked the thread title, watch out for my next posts: "is God an AFC?" and "I have decided to become bisexual".

Wow! I like this post. I won't even blab on about certain parts of it, it's awesome in every aspect. What I'll talk about is Leadership and Position.

I'm a member of the the army (Canadian), as a Corporal. There is this thing callled 'belt-fed c**k' that real *******s dish out because they are a Master Corporal and they just can. That is what leads to submissive behaviour. Everyone takes it because they;
a) Don't feel like being singled out.
b) Know they are a total douche
or
c) You're scared of more c**k.

Irregardless of the choices my analogy presents, there is a fine line between being in control, and ramming s**t up everyone's ass. I supervise anywhere from 2 to 10 Privates at a given time, and they love me. Being able to have a friendly connection with your boss (me), to joke around a little and not have unnecessary problems or crap promotes growth and development in all aspects of mind.

I also hold a still air of position, I will help everyone do their work, I am a fair and just leader, but I have never had to speak about rules, because my followers all understand the rules. It is because I always carry a positive aura, and rarely give a blast of s**t unless required that allows for everyone to expand their strengths.

As a side note, because I am never angry and always have a smile, because I am always so calm, no one ever wants to piss me off because they are afraid I'll explode or something. THAT is proper leadership, where no one breaks the rules, or pisses someone off, because it is demeaning to the development and experience we all share in my line of work.

Just an addition to your superb post. Never ever act like an ass.hole, even if you are above or winning, because there's no respect or satisfaction when not one person will do anything for you because you have ruined their desire to do anything.

ps. I have a shy Private. He's 26, never drank, never had a girlfriend, way too uptight with position. Over the time he's been with me (and the unit I'm in), he's lightened up a lot, started cracking jokes and talking more. A real-life example of how proper use of position and status can indirectly influence the development from major shyness to more open interaction. My success story. :)
