"She Liked You in March. It's October Now."

Attraction runs on a clock.

She flirted for weeks. Touched your arm. Found reasons to be alone with you. And you were careful. Respectful. Waiting for the right moment.

The moment had a shelf life. It expired around month two, and by the time you asked her out, she'd quietly filed you under "little brother."

One of the hardest lessons inside the 22 Rules: women rarely wait. Interest either grows or it decays, and nothing decays it faster than a man who never moves.

Make the move while she's still inventing reasons to be near you.

what are ways to train my mind to let some of this go?

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

I struggle with this as well. I overanalyse everything, including all of my interactions with people. My problem is that I have a very good memory.

I'm learning to let go abit though, but I can't really say that I have any sort of system.

I think it's part of the journey you go through in transforming from an AFC.

For awhile I've been overly observant of people and their behaviours, I guess it's how you learn though.

I don't think you can stop yourself from doing it. All you can do, if anything, is to bear in mind that the conclusions you draw are entirely your own and not necessarily an accurate representation of what's happening. Especially in other people's heads.

Your analising can be (and is) subject to certain cognitive distortions. Thought mistakes. David Burns collected a list of these mistakes. It is a good idea to bear them in mind if you are an overanalytical person.

Cognitive distortions are logical, but they are not rational. They can create real difficulty with your thinking. See if you are doing any of the ten common distortions that people use. Rate yourself from one to ten with one being low and ten being high. Ask yourself if you can stop using the distortions and think in a different way.

ALL-OR-NOTHING THINKING: You see things in black-and-white categories. If your performance falls short of perfect, you see your self as a total failure.

OVERGENERALIZATION: You see a single negative event as a never-ending pattern of defeat.

MENTAL FILTER: You pick out a single negative detail and dwell on it exclusively so that your vision of all reality becomes darkened, like the drop of ink that discolors the entire beaker of water.

DISQUALIFYING THE POSITIVE: You reject positive experiences by insisting they "don't count" for some reason or other. In this way you can maintain a negative belief that is contradicted by your everyday experiences.

JUMPING TO CONCLUSIONS: You make a negative interpretation even though there are no definite facts that convincingly support your conclusion.

MIND READING: You arbitrarily conclude that someone is reacting negatively to you, and you don't bother to check this out
THE FORTUNETELLER ERROR: you can anticipate that things will turn out badly, and you feel convinced that your prediction is an already-established fact.

MAGNIFICATION (CATASTROPHIZING) OR MINIMIZATION: You exaggerate the importance of things (such as your goof-up or someone else's achievement), or you inappropriately shrink things until they appear tiny (your own desirable qualities or other fellow's imperfections). This is also called the binocular trick."

EMOTIONAL REASONING: You assume that your negative emotions necessarily reflect the way things really are: "I feel it, therefore it must be true."

SHOULD STATEMENTS: You try to motivate yourself with should and shouldn't, as if you had to be whipped and punished before you could be expected to do anything. "Musts" and "oughts" are also offenders. The emotional consequences are guilt. When you direct should statements toward others, you feel anger, frustration, and resentment.

LABELING AND MISLABELING: This is an extreme form of overgeneralization. Instead of describing your error, you attach a negative label to yourself. "I'm a loser." When someone else's behavior rubs you the wrong way, you attach a negative label to him" "He's a Goddamn louse." Mislabeling involves describing an event with language that is highly colored and emotionally loaded.

PERSONALIZATION: You see your self as the cause of some negative external event, which in fact you were not primarily responsible for.

and those examples are on point!

so what your saying Hellboy is that I should rather ignore it than try forgetting about it..or maybe change the way I percieve things..

Ive had a ton of great thing happen to me.

with women its rediculous..ive been with so many women in one shape, form or another I shouldnt ever think negative.

in life im successful..but yet I always Look for the negative to critisize myself.

this is my biggest biggest downfall.

“The 22 Rules That Turned Me From Invisible to Irresistible With Women… Starting Tonight”

You can skip the expensive cars, the fancy clothes, and the endless gym selfies. Completely unnecessary.

I used to freeze the second a beautiful woman looked my way. Frustrated. Awkward. Watching other guys walk away with the girl while I stood there tongue-tied.

Then I discovered 22 simple rules that rewired my entire dating life. The anxiety vanished. Conversations flowed effortlessly. Women started chasing me for a change.

These rules trigger a woman's subconscious attraction switches. And you can start using them tonight.

I think the biggest problem is that your emotions and self esteem at any given time will affect the conclusions of your over analysing. When you're on fire you'll come to positive conclusions, and when you're feeling low you come to negative conclusions.

Your conclusions MIGHT BE WRONG. So NEVER, EVER conclude something negative based on analysing alone. If a conclusion doesn't serve you well, then allow yourself to genuinely doubt it. The doubt is justified! Don't doubt yourself, but doubt your negative analysis.

When I said you can't stop yourself doing it, that wasn't strictly true. Try something that Bhuddists call Mindful Meditation. Try to focus on external things (sights, sounds, smells) whenever you get lost in thoughts, analysing away. Really bring yourself out of your subconscious and pay attention. Focus as best you can, and you can silence the inner chatter with practise.

Everyone does it sometimes. It's just that some people get into the habit of thinking more positively, or more negatively. It's a habit you can change. With practise.

I read a good tip to do with this on the net. Apparently if you use your tongue to touch that little ball at the point where your gum meets your front teeth, you cut down on negative thoughts. The reason being that it's been proven we overanalyse and stress out about things due to our tongue moving ever so slightly without us noticing. By focusing on this particular point of your mouth, the negative thoughts cease. Whether it's bullsh*t or not is up to you to decide but I use it now and again and have found it is a good way to cut down on negative thoughts.

EDIT: Below is the link. Perhaps it will help you:

http://www.howtotalkwithconfidence.com/beatshyness.htm

"How I Made Sure No Woman Ever Friend-Zoned Me Again"

She calls you when her car breaks down. When she needs help moving. When some guy she's actually dating treats her badly.

You're the listener. The reliable one. The guy who would treat her so much better, if she'd just open her eyes.

She won't. You trained her to see you as the low-effort option — the friend who requires zero risk and zero investment. Every favor dug the hole deeper.

The "22 Rules" break the pattern. You'll stop auditioning for a role she already cast and become the man she chases instead. It starts with Rule 1.

yea it's a ***** sometimes cause it can really interfere in how you interact with people and how you perceive them. not only that but also affects the way they perceive you. it's not hard to notice if someone is the type that analyzes everything, you can see it in their face.... you can tell they're thinking...always thinking

Unfortunately i used to be like this, and back then it really crippled my confidence and self esteem. If i was mad at someone, i would verbally hold it back due to my "foreseen consequences". i feared they would not like me afterwards.

But i'd say the best thing that ever happened to me was letting go and putting my old overanalyzing self behind me and moving on.

Humans were born with logical thinking & reasoning, to prevent themselves from falling into dangerous situations, a form of defense mechanism. But what happens is some people grow overly dependent on this method of "foreseen security". That they begin to use it on a 24/7 basis, that even if given the opportunity, it would be strenuous to not rely on it. Insecurity also feeds it and vice versa. Those are the factors of being an overanalyzer.

The beauty about this "symptom" is that it is strongly incorporated into one's personality. The only real method to putting this behind you is to be open to change and personal growth. Striving towards this change is the only method i know of of letting go.
