I nearly died!!

A couple times over the last year I've came downstairs & thought I could smell a faint whiff of gas (no jokes please). The smell always led me outside & away from my property, so I I didn't think anymore of it.

Well my boiler broke recently so I needed to get out a gasman to install a new one. Whilst he was on doing that, he rang me, to tell me I had a gas leak. It took him a while to find out where it was coming from, but eventually he found out that it was coming from behind my fire.
He told me that if I had, had a electric fire, I would be dead now.
He said the reason for the gas leak was that soot from the chimney had rested on gaspipe therefore causing leak.

It's real easy to check for gas leaks. Put dish soap in water and paint that solution on all of the pipe joints. The soap will bubble if you have a leak. Glad it turned out well.
