I just bought Anthony Ellis' package and measured my bodyfat to see what routine I'd be picking...either to gain mass or reduce bodyfat.

I'm 6'2" 170 lbs, and by all known standards, that is still skinny. I barely bench 135 and can almost see my ribs. Yet the plastic caliper and 9-point bodyfat formula he has says I have 22% bodyfat, and I should reduce it to like 10% before trying to build lean mass. According to him, 25% is considered obese.

Uh...170 lbs at my height? Nearly obese?

His method seems contrary to everything I've read on this board regarding bulking up first before cutting.

Does anyone see the logic here? I must be missing something.

um, I would say you messed up. Besides I don't really think you can self-test body fat with calipers and be totally accurate.

Go to a gym, and have someone who does it regularly do it.

Do you move the slider back every time? Do a search on the skinny guy forums, a lot of people mess up their measurements with the calipers.

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

inaccurate bodyfat measuring systems

i have some terraillon electronic bodyfat measuring scales or so they claim to be. they supposedly send and electric pulse through the body and use the time it takes to go up and back down throw it along with your age height and weight to calculate your bodyfat. i don't believe i have 28% bodyfat. i got a lot of lean muscle mass and look pretty ripped. by the navy bodyfat measuring system of just using measurements such as at the neck, navel and your age i'm only 15%. that seems more reasonable but considering all the muscle mass i have i bet even that is higher than actuality.

Thanks for the site, chim_chim. mybodycomp.com gave me a 10.05% rating. That sounds far more likely given my build.

Safari can you see your abs? If not, 10% is probably a little low. It seems off for someone at 6'2" 170 with a max bench of 135.

I can see them but am by no means ripped.

Just did another measurement today at 12.4%. Apparently I'm having trouble taking consistent measurements.
