"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.

When it's in relation to being in a relationship.

Why is being in a relationship "finding happiness" ?

Can't you be happy on your own?

The idea of relying on any human being to make you happy is depressin....why does any one person deserve that much control over your emotional state?

"She Liked You in March. It's October Now."

Attraction runs on a clock.

She flirted for weeks. Touched your arm. Found reasons to be alone with you. And you were careful. Respectful. Waiting for the right moment.

The moment had a shelf life. It expired around month two, and by the time you asked her out, she'd quietly filed you under "little brother."

One of the hardest lessons inside the 22 Rules: women rarely wait. Interest either grows or it decays, and nothing decays it faster than a man who never moves.

Make the move while she's still inventing reasons to be near you.

Thats a feminine term. Doubt you hear many guys saying that and those who do are generally big time AFC.

A little off topic...but I find "finding happiness" in general a bit ridiculous...regardless with the help of someone else or not.

I can count with my fingers how many times I have truly, truly happy. The idea that man is born to be happy has caused more tears, suffering, and pain, and ill conceived notions than any other idea under the sun.

Yet, thousands march to "find happiness" and "the quest for happiness" claims thousands more victims each day. Coincidentally...the ones that seek happiness are typically most unhappy...because what they seek is so elusive and ephemeral. We are not born to be happy. We are simply born to live...and to carry through the improvement of our species, no different than the bear, the wolf, the jackal, the ant. It's the will to live that dictates everything within us.

This may be a somewhat sober and bleak idea and it couldn't possibly get much acceptance I realize it, but like all great truths it brings great freedom. And yes...once you accept it...it will add a bit to your happiness too :)

Is it actually a coincidence google ads put 'Are you happy?' banner just above?

Anyway, I really think that Danton1975 hits it in the above post.

Life has it's good and bad days. All we can do is make our lifes richer, more fullfilled in order to have more good ones.

I think they refer to a short romantic period that you live after you find some one you consider (her/him ) long term material , usually it ends when they start facing the real life

"I'm Not Looking for Anything Serious Right Now"

When a woman says it, guys hear a confession. A heads-up. A scheduling conflict.

Here's the translation: I don't feel anything. Right now. With you.

Watch what happens when a man triggers actual attraction. The busy career, the recent breakup, the "not in a place to date" — all of it evaporates instantly. The same woman who was guarding her freedom is suddenly free every night.

The "22 Rules" explain why. When the right switches flip, her timeline rearranges itself around you.

Happiness comes within. If you claim to find happiness by finding someone, then you are setting yourself up with sadness because you're depending on someone else for your happiness. Do not be attached to someone.

Great post Danton; more wisdom and philosophy from you would help some of the AFC clientele that seem to be turning up in greater numbers as time marches on ~ I notice1975in your title. I think that people born up to 1980 are the most wise on these boards, and distribute the best advice.

As for your post - we need to ingrain into some of these hopeless romantics that evolutionary psychology is what keeps the wheels turning. Not writing them love poems or buying them flowers ;)
