"She Made Her Decision Before You Finished Your Sentence"

Three seconds. That's how long it took. Your shoes. Your posture. The way you held your drink. Whether you looked at the floor or looked at her.

She already filed you away. Interesting. Boring. Safe. Bold. Before you even opened your mouth.

Everything you say after that is just her confirming what she already decided.

So stop rehearsing lines. Fix the first three seconds. Stand tall. Look up. Smile like you mean it. Walk like you belong wherever you're standing.

The words come later. The impression comes first.

I feel guilty that I rejected this girl

Hey Guys,

I have felt guilty all weekend about something that happened recently. Should I really feel bad about this?

Here's the skinny. I met girl A, who I will call Blonde about a month ago. She works in my office building, she's 23, about a 7.5 with a cute face, average body. I am 29. We have flirted a bit, and initially I was attracted to her. I took her out for drinks once and I could tell she was showing high interest. We decided to meet at a free concert two days later, where she was hanging out with her girlfriends. For some reason I didn't find Blonde attractive in what she was wearing-- her tank top revealed she had the beginnings of a belly. It turned me off. One of her girlfriends, who I will call Brunette, I was immediately wildly attracted to. I end up spending most of my time at the concert with Blonde, but talked a bit with Brunette. Blonde and Brunette are sorority sisters who just graduated from college. Brunette makes it clear that she is available by asking me if I have any cute friends I can set her up with.

Blonde, Brunette and I decide to go out to a bar later on. Blonde is hanging all over me, even tells me she wants me to take her back to my place. Meanwhile, I'm doing my best job possible to mack Brunette, (while Blonde is in the bathroom, or getting drinks at the bar) who seems interested. She subtly hints to me that if we can somehow lose Blonde, she's game to continue the evening with me somewhere else. But I also think she is a bit shocked to find out I am interested in her and not her friend. Consider however, that all of us have been drinking that evening-- about four beers each-- and that Blonde and Brunette are good friends. Brunette ends up falling when we get outside and skinning her knee-- I try to help her with some bandaids but she jumps in a cab and goes home, almost like she's freaked out by the cut, even before I can covertly get her number without Blonde finding out.

Meanwhile, Blonde continues to hang on me and wants us to get our own cab back to my place. Considering that she and Brunette are good friends, and I don't want to ruin my chances with Brunette, I put Blonde in her own cab home and make up and excuse that we have had too much to drink and that I have to get up early. Blonde is a little bewildered by this. Next day, I make up something about the evening before in order for Blonde to give me Brunette's number. As devious as this all sounds, I decide that since I am more interested in Brunette, I will basically give Blonde the silent treatment for a week so that I can then call up Brunette.

Well, after a couple of days and everyone has sobered up, Blonde begins showing signs that she is shunning me, just as I am her, and I begin to wonder if she and Brunette have now exchanged information. To make a long story short, Blonde ends up figuring out that I was hitting on her friend all night-- and when I call Brunette, she is no longer expressing the interest as she was that night at the bar. I messed it all up.

My first question is, how could I have successfully shifted from Blonde to Brunette, considering that they are such good friends?

My second question is, how guilty should I feel about the way I treated Blonde?

I am a Jerk because:

1) Blonde is a nice, sweet girl who has shown high interest and who I initially expressed interest in. I spent most of the concert talking to Blonde and showed interest in her. She didn't see this coming.

2) Blonde actually introduced me to Brunette-- I wouldn't know Brunette except through Blonde introducing me.

3) I used Blonde to get Brunette's phone number by telling her a fib.

4) I basically rejected and humiliated Blonde because she showed her interest first. She asked me to take her home with me, and I rejected her. When she later found out this was obviously because I was more interested in her friend, the humiliation was complete.

I am not a Jerk because:

1) I only went out on one date with Blonde for drinks prior to this evening when I met Brunette. The evening when I met Brunette was not what I would call a date with Blonde-- we showed up at the concert separately.

2) I had never had sex or kissed Blonde before the evening when I met Brunette. I did make out with Blonde just for a little while before putting her in the cab--she pretty much forced me to when she started kissing me.

3) I did not carry Blonde home and have sex with her that night when I could have easily taken advantage of her.

4) At the time I could tell that Brunette was a better fit for me personality wise than Blonde. DID I REALLY OWE BLONDE ANYTHING BEFORE I STARTED HITTING ON HER FRIEND?

"Nervous Around Beautiful Women? There's a Rule for That"

I could talk to any woman I wasn't attracted to. Charming, funny, relaxed. Then a gorgeous woman looked my way and I'd become a sweating, babbling mess.

The fix took me years to find and ten minutes to learn. Nervousness and excitement are the same physical state — pounding heart, adrenaline, flushed face. Your brain just picks the label. And you can pick a better one.

Rule 16 shows you how. You feel the nerves, relabel them as excitement, and let that energy pour out as enthusiasm. Women notice the guy radiating it. They always do.

If Brunette liked you s much as you think she did and it wasn't just the alcohol talking she wouldn’t have changed so dramatically in two days just because her friend wanted you.

Don’t feel guilty. Guilt is for weak people.

Italian,

Good Point-- from Brunette's perspective, it could have been the alcohol talking-- although she seemed far from drunk when she started her kino on me.

I'm just wondering if them being friends made much difference in Brunette ultimately rejecting me.

My experience if a girl wants you she will go above and beyond to get you. She won’t care about her friend’s opinion. Then again it could have if they are really close.

If it was her friend then it’s not over. You can still go for it just Mack her pants off.

Here's my take on things. In order to successfully shift from Blonde to Brunette, it has to be done in such a way that neither of them think that you're going behind anyone's back. You should be comfortable with trying to hit on any of them. You should believe that there's nothing wrong with it. Go behind their backs and they'll use it against you. Of course you don't freakin ignore Blonde and hit on Brunette right in front of Blonde's face. They'll just think you're being an ass. It's like approaching a group of girls and trying to get all of them involved so you can easily move in on one of them.

Man up to what you want. If Blonde wanted you to take her back to your place, ask her why. She tells you something you wouldn't like to do, you reject her proposal nicely. If she blows her top, screw her, cause she'll be the one acting like an ass and not you.

You don't owe any of them anything actually. But it's always good to be honest with yourself.

"She Liked You in March. It's October Now."

Attraction runs on a clock.

She flirted for weeks. Touched your arm. Found reasons to be alone with you. And you were careful. Respectful. Waiting for the right moment.

The moment had a shelf life. It expired around month two, and by the time you asked her out, she'd quietly filed you under "little brother."

One of the hardest lessons inside the 22 Rules: women rarely wait. Interest either grows or it decays, and nothing decays it faster than a man who never moves.

Make the move while she's still inventing reasons to be near you.

I think next time this happens to you, you shouldn't do it behind the girl's back. Be friendly to both but don't give any special attention to the one your not interested in. Sending mix signals isn't good when considering they are both extremely tight like that. They both influence each other in their decisions to a certain degree. If one feels like the Blonde did, then she is going to put a taint image of you to the other girl.

You guys are right-- I feel ****ty because I tried to go around Blonde's back.

But......

I wasn't sure I would see Brunette again, so I felt I had to move fast.

I think Brunette ultimately wasn't interested because I didn't spend enough time with her that evening. She probably still thinks I'm interested in her for just sex....

Anyhow, I'm going to stop making excuses.

There seems to be a lot more of these dilemmas on the board lately (including my own). That can only be a good sign. It shows a powershift in the DJs favour.

However, I can't really advise on this. I've had a miserable time breaking up with women lately and I realise I really suck at it! :(

Here's what I think......

Brunette was not that interested in you, it was probably the alchohol talking (maybe she dosent drink that often???) Basically, you should either next both of them, or figure out how to fix this. I dont have any ideas on how to fix it though

"I'm Not Looking for Anything Serious Right Now"

When a woman says it, guys hear a confession. A heads-up. A scheduling conflict.

Here's the translation: I don't feel anything. Right now. With you.

Watch what happens when a man triggers actual attraction. The busy career, the recent breakup, the "not in a place to date" — all of it evaporates instantly. The same woman who was guarding her freedom is suddenly free every night.

The "22 Rules" explain why. When the right switches flip, her timeline rearranges itself around you.
