ChrizZ it wasn't completely dark yet in that scene or at least not when they let the dogs out. Even the dogs started burning from the little sun that was still out. Why risks yourself when you can just send the dogs to do the initial hard work?
ummmm yeah, that makes sense! Because the zombies, in their rabies like state, KNEW that the zombie dogs wouldn't eat Will Smith for themselves.

I have not seen the movie. From the previews it looks like a very promising story BUT the zombies and animals look extremely computer animated making it hard to take seriously. I may not see it because of this. Do you think Jurassic Park would be half as good if the raptors and the T-rex looked fake and computer animated?
Good point. But here is my take on it. When seeing a Will Smith movie, I want a certain flavor. I'm not looking for gory "realistic" zombies like in Dawn of the Dead when I see one of Will's movies. What I am looking for is a kick ass, sci-fi movie. And so in this case, "video game looking" zombies work quite nicely.
But make no mistake about it, the zombies ARE NOT the reason to see the movie. The best part(s) of the movie is Will (and his charisma) battling the sense of isolation during the movie's 'down time'.
