"She Made Her Decision Before You Finished Your Sentence"

Three seconds. That's how long it took. Your shoes. Your posture. The way you held your drink. Whether you looked at the floor or looked at her.

She already filed you away. Interesting. Boring. Safe. Bold. Before you even opened your mouth.

Everything you say after that is just her confirming what she already decided.

So stop rehearsing lines. Fix the first three seconds. Stand tall. Look up. Smile like you mean it. Walk like you belong wherever you're standing.

The words come later. The impression comes first.

I leave for Saint Louis University tomorrow morning to go off to college and I'll be leaving behind all of my friends, my childhood, and going to live in a different state for the first time in my life. I should be excited for college, but right now I just can't help but feel like ****. I feel like I'm going to fall out of touch with my friends and I feel like we'll never be as close anymore. What's worse is that my dog that I've had for sixteen years is getting sick and he's having trouble walking around the house now, and the thought of me not being there when he passes is unbearable.

I don't know, I'm just in such a huge slump right now. It's the night before I leave and I just can't help but feel terrible. Has anyone else gone through this before and can offer me some advice or something? Is this normal when transitioning to college?

"Nervous Around Beautiful Women? There's a Rule for That"

I could talk to any woman I wasn't attracted to. Charming, funny, relaxed. Then a gorgeous woman looked my way and I'd become a sweating, babbling mess.

The fix took me years to find and ten minutes to learn. Nervousness and excitement are the same physical state — pounding heart, adrenaline, flushed face. Your brain just picks the label. And you can pick a better one.

Rule 16 shows you how. You feel the nerves, relabel them as excitement, and let that energy pour out as enthusiasm. Women notice the guy radiating it. They always do.

Pretty much. Thing is you're not going to lose your friends if the ties are strong enough. You will see them again, later on. They are probably going through the same thing you are. Don't think about losing them, you're not. Think about all the new friends you're going to make at University.

Sure things are going to change on the surface, but people are the same everywhere.

And you will lose the "childhood". The familiarity or your home town. That you will lose if you move away or you stay. Things change.

Yeah basically you need to kill your childish fantasies of a pretty rainbow filled childhood and bouncy fluffy puppies that were with you when you were growing up.

Sh1t dies all the time, things happen. I hope you learn not to become emotionally attached to anything in the future from this experience. As Holden Caulfield once said, "don't talk to anybody, the more you know about them the more you miss them." Or some sh1t like that.

Anyways, you will forget about this feeling soon, new friends/dogs will take their place. And such is the cycle of life.

You're basically going though a transition and sometimes they can be painful. The thing is that to grow you have to accept change and understand nothing comes from staying in the same place. The thing is to embrace that this will be an adventure and it's time to take it for all it's worth.

your friends will still be there. thanksgiving break, xmas break, etc. My closest friends are still pretty close now. I am going to be a senior in college. However, I admit I did grow distant to MOST of my friends. Its impossible to keep in touch with all of them. However, the select 5-10 people from high school...I am still very close to them. We go to lake tahoe over summer, etc. It still hurts right now thinking about the select friends who i don't really talk to anymore.

YOu have to accept change man. Adapt(read the great post on adaptation by senor fingerz...its a GREAT post for the concept of change) Things will be different now. Trust me though, college will be a bLAST. your old friends will still be there...you are just entering the next part of your life. have fun man!

"She Laughed All Night. Then She Ghosted You. Here's Why."

Dinner ran three hours. She laughed at everything. You walked her to her car thinking this one's locked in.

Then: nothing. Two texts. No reply. What happened?

You did what most men do on a great date. You filled every silence, answered every question, and left her with nothing to wonder about. No mystery. Nothing to sit with when she got home.

Rule 3 of the "22 Rules" changes the ending: tell her a little, hold back the rest, and let her imagination do the chasing. The ghosting stops too.

It's hard leaving the comfort of your old environment, where you grew up, where you roamed the streets, where you had your friends, and where you feel connected. That's part of growing up though. You are at a time now to make new friends, learn new things, and learn how to make new connections. You will get some bumps and bruises along the way. That's fine. That's part of the learning experience.

Once you've actually settled in and unpacked in your dorm or apartment and you start hitting up some parties, you'll feel better.

the easiest way to cure depression is to just start smiling all day. :)

To quote some Hollywood movie trailer I saw but was pretty good advice, "When you're young life feels like it's ending, but that's because it's just begining." Corny but very true.

"She's Out of Your League"

You've said it a hundred times. Maybe a thousand. And every time you say it, you train your brain to freeze the next time she walks into the room.

Leagues are a myth invented by guys who are scared of women.

She's a person. She has bad breath in the morning. She picks songs she can't sing in the shower. She overthinks her own texts.

Walk over. Say something. The league dissolves the second you open your mouth.
