The other night I went to a show with some friends. I was the seventh wheel to three couples. So, there was this girl there that I couldn't keep my eyes off of. An 11. Seriously. Blonde hair, skin tight black leather miniskirt, yadda yadda. I saw her walking around with some dude, so naturally I figured they were together.
Maybe two hours later and we were hanging out near the upstairs bars, and she was still around, behaving rather drunk. A half hour later she pops up again, alone, and was well past the point of being in proper control of her motor skills. She was stumbling around, so I started laughing at her. She took notice and came over to me, somewhat angered or offended.
her: Are you laughing at me?
me: Not at all. (points to the screen in the back with the band playing) I was just laughing at this band. They're terrible.
her: (obviously not buying it, giving me this pissed off look)
me: ....... of course I was laughing at you!
her: (gets real close) *mumble*mumble* retard *mumble* I don't think *mumble* retarded *mumble*
me: ..... huh?
her: (I honestly couldn't understand what she was saying because the band was so loud, and she was trashed.)
me: Soooo.... where ya from?
her: Duh, from around here!
me: Oh. Well I'm not.
her: Ya know, I think the fact that you don't care what you look like is ****ing sexy...
me: What do you mean I "don't care" what I look like?
Then she starts getting in really close, and puts her arm around my neck, like she's trying to make out with me, but I just kept turning my head.
her: You smell really good.
At this point I started feeling awkward. I was 60 miles away from home, didn't drive, my friends are sitting there watching this trainwreck, the guy she was with shows up with a couple of his friends, she's so drunk I'm getting a buzz from her breath.... not a pretty picture.
Then she started asking me if I wanted her to leave me alone, as I was clearly uncomfortable. The guy she was with earlier took her by the hand (he didn't even look at me), and pulled her away, as she stared at me with this sad look until they disappeared into the crowd.
I don't really know what I could have done differently. It was a bookcase example of the usual dillemas I'm constantly dealing with. I mean, she probably ended up passing out and got gang banged by those three guys or whatever, so I don't really consider it a loss to any extent, but I should have handled it better. I suppose it's best not to dwell on these things so much.
