It's several ways. But I will tell you this, the more you push and make it an issue, the more you "talk" about it...the more you won't get it. Like all things with a woman you lead her to it. Came across this today by chance and thought it was interestingly relevant. It's a psychological process developed by behaviorist B.F. Skinner. It is a way of 'training' an organism to behave a certain way through use of operant-conditioning and reinforcement.
Basically, an organism is successively rewarded for behavior that brings it closer and closer to achieving the desired end result.

After the bird had moved onto the next stage, though, it would not receive reinforcement for performing the actions of the previous stages.
