This is going to sound probably as lame as the day is long, but;
A fling from the summer managed to keep some property of mine, namely one of the keys to my motorcycle... before Christmas she seemed pretty open and receptive to a casual friendship, but has since ingnored my emails, she knows I want it back.... how would this be handled to not appear bothersome and I hate to say it, nitpicky.....
I was thinking along the lines of a memo, or registered letter she has to sign for,
any thoughts?

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

I would call the cops. Let them know that she has your property but refuses to accept your calls/emails. Tell them you are prepared to make a statement to file for charges but would much prefer that they assist in recovering your property to avoid all the legal costs and wastes in court time. Tell them you are trying to be proactive and don't want the situation to escalate as it often does in domestic cases. Tell them you'd really appreciate their help. If you present it this way, they will likely call her and make arrangements. Finally I would go to the station to do this, not over the phone, otherwise they might not send someone over or you'll have to bend the truth to get them there. In all likelihood, they will only have to call her and you can go pick up your keys.

Its sends a very clear message, you mean business and will not be fvcked around with and don't have time for high school games.
