I've been searching for a job since the summer time, and still i have had no success. Just wanted to know what do you do once you turn the application in? Do you keep calling and asking for open positions?
Or do you wait for them to call? Because I've never been called back a single time!!!

I need money!

So frustrating...:cuss:

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

When you turn in an application, talk to someone in charge right there, and try to get hired on the spot. If the boss aint there, ask when he will be, and come bak then. I'm 34 and i've VERY RARELY turned in an app, without talking to someone, and have them call back. I usually dont even fill out an app until I've talked to someone

You need to show initiative. For any entry level position, the boss is too lazy to sort through applications. He's most likely gonna hire the first person worth a shyt who talks to him in person. Grabbing an application, filling it out, and dropping it off is a waste of time. Its equivilent to giving your phone number to a random girl, and waiting for her to call back.

When you want a job, go somewhere you know is hiring, and ask to speak to the manager. If they are there, talk to them, If not, ask when they are there, and most likely to have a spare minute to talk to you, then do just that. If you are looking into a restaraunt, go at a slow time of day, either before 11:00 am, and between 2 and 5 are usually good times.

If you dont know that the place is hiring, fill out your app, and only turn it in, when someone can talk to you, and you can make a good impression on them in person. Then MAYBE he will remember you if a position opens.

Also, just act like you can do whatever job it is, like its a piece of cake.

The easiest way to get a job is through friends. Ask all uyour freinds with jobs, if they are hiring. A manager will usually hire employees friends sooner than street walk ins.

Keep in mind, I am talking about general, entry level stuff here, but many of these rules apply to more experienced positions too.

Are you going for anything in particular?

1. Make a simple resume. Less is more. Don't put stupid sh*t on it like your hobbies, your qualities... etc.

2. Keep in mind that the job is looking for a worker bee. Craft your resume around that.

3. If you don't have much experience then get some. Start at some sh*tty place like McDonalds or some dollar store. Work for three months, just long enough to get past a probationary period, and then switch to something less horrible.

4. Apply everywhere. Assuming your resume shows that you have an IQ higher than room temperature, the more places you apply the greater your chances. Tweak resumes and applications if needed for each type of job if you can.

+ what horaholic said. The one on one is the most important part, so the sooner you can get to that the better.

Go talk to the manager in person. I believe that's the easiest way to get a job. Some might tell you to turn in an application after talking to them, but that's not always the case. I know allot of people who have gotten jobs just by talking to the manager. And remember, dress smart, smile and give the manager a firm hand-shake. First impression is very important to not make you seem like a slacker.

"A new study backs up what the etiquette books have been saying all along, that a firm handshake helps makes a good first impression for both males and females. The study, reported in this month's issue of the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, a journal published by the American Psychological Association (APA), finds that consistent with the etiquette and business literature, there is a substantial relation between the features that characterize a firm handshake (strength, vigor, duration, eye contact and completeness of grip) and a favorable first impression."
