I'm happily in college. I see a lot of party flyers around the campus. The majority of them say "dress to impress."
I remember one time I went to a party alone, wearing a solid red collar shirt (Lacoste), black khaki pants, and red timberland boots. I got ribbed because I apparently looked like I was wearing a variation on the Six Flags uniform. I had absolutely no clue of what dress to impress meant! I just guessed. The ribbing shot my confidence HARD.
Then I went to another one with a friend. We had a very attractive car (a 1998 Nissan Sentra GXE with blue neons all over and could be called a ghetto BMW, complete with angel eyes.) It got us a lot of attention...until we got out of it. We looked like we were stunt doubles for Carlton Banks! (The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air) The fact we rolled up to the club in a unique whip that I made damn near was the key for us being able to have women consider us and allow us to talk to them.
I know dress to impress isn't always about dressing like Donald Trump or Stefan Urquelle (Family Matters). It's apparently not dressing like Carlton Banks or Steve Urkel. but wtf is it? Any answers/ suggestions? Thanx!
