Master Don Juan
I have received quite a rash of Pm's asking for advice on how to be successful. I assure you, I am extremely flattered and I take that as a compliment. So much so that I wanted to sit down and give a real outline on what I do, and who it works for me. But, there is a problem with that. That is what works for ME. Wht I do, how I am wired, what my goals are, my ambitions, probably are not what you want.
I'm not too different from anyone else here. When I was 18 years old I was living with my mom, selling bootleg video games around town lol for a living, picking up my oneitis from school everyday and taking her home so he BF could knock it out the park, while playing my dreamcast that I let her borrow lol. I woke up at noon everyday, if you were lucky, i went out damn near every night. All my money went on clothes and getting my hair braided (I had very long braids back then), and investing in my business. Now, the video game business had done good lol. I had branched out to where I had runners in high schools. I took it seriously and didn't do too bad for myself. I would clear 500 or so a week and I was never bored as I had a collection of about 2k video games for all systems. But with that said, I was nothing like I am sitting here today. My point is, I wasn't always driven, I wasn't always a workaholic,l I wasn't always successful, far from it.
One day that all changed. I had no idea it changed, it's not like a light went off in my head or something. I took my dar and picked my sister up from school. She, at the time she had just turned 2,.. i wanted to do something nice for her so I stopped by best buy and tried to find a Barney DVD for her. While I was there, I ran into an old assositate of mine and were both techie thpe guys. We figured we'd come together and just screw around with our computers. WE did this for about a month. Then one day, we said dude.. we know everything there is to know about building computers, why don't we try to sale one of them lol? We did that, and it worked. Made a little bit of money. Then took that money and did it again. and again. and again. Then somewhere in my head, the light bulb kinda went off, a la beavis in beavis and butthead when he comes up with an idea.. dude we can do this for a living.
And even THEN, it's not like I had just transformed. We went on dates quite often with girls, we went up to university of Arkansas just to go to frat parties, we kicked it. We had this business idea that was going to make us instantly rich. We would; go to subdivisions and pick out houses and ****, and go look at cars, fun times. I wanted a Porsche boxster and he wanted a bmw 5 series. But, we had a goal. To make this company successful. We worked at night, he would come over and my room was ouyr first office.
Then, as we started to learn the harsh realities of business, and things didn't happen over night.. some things changed. The goals didn't change. We changed. I cut the hair and started dressing like a grown man is supped to dress. I gave up partying to make sure I can get up in the morning to wor4k. The more successful we weren't, the harder we worked. This went on for 2 years, until by early 2004, we were living out of a 2 bedroom apartment, we wree both workaholics, we took it so far, we would not come out of our rooms without slacks and a tie on if we were working that day. no walking around the house in gym shorts and ****. when I noticed i wasn't getting enough done in my day,m I started making a schedule and planning my day ahead. that's not something I just read or something, that's something I figured I could do to be more productive.
You will fail. and you will fail alot In whatever you do, if you want to do anything that requires any real hard work. But the more you fail, the more you have to cut out, the more you have to change the game up. There is a quote,
The more we failed, the more we looked at what we could do different to make things happen differently. Then a few years pass and you don't even notice how much you have changed as a person.
But the key is, first finding something that you want and that you are passionate about.

"what I am getting at is, too many people think that you have to become this great person, and then you can do all these great things. NO,. you have it backwards. You have to figure out what you want first, you have to want something, I don't care what its, but it has to be worth making changes for, it has to be worth sacrificing for. Then you realize okay, to do that, l need to start doing this. Okay, yo do that, I have to start doing that. I was not always good at sales, I became good at sales, because I know I would have to become good at sales, to sale **** lol. So i worked at it. I bought books, read through them.If you go to work on your goals, your goals will go to work on you. If you go to work on your plan, your plan will go to work on you. Whatever good things we build end up building us.
