How to ask this girl to hang out wthout sounding creepy?

Ok, work with this girl at my extra weekend job. Chatted with girl for a bit over the weekend and found out she's a fairly cool girl. Got her number because she gets a lot of free sports tickets through her day job and I told her to give me a call if she needs someone to go with. Anyway, I would like to hang out with her regardless but I don't know if it'll look weird if I just call her to
hang out (since she barely knows me). I did tell her I'd come say hi to
her at some event she's doing pr at this week (it's near my work). Any suggestions guys? And sorry if I'm asking a stupid question but I've always had rotten luck with women and am beginning to think I'm doing something fundementally wrong.

You're not doing any fundamentally wrong. If she barely knows you she'll automatically have her shield up. In order for her to be more comfortable, invite her to a movie outing with some of your (non-jerk) friends - it'll feel a lot more casual and no pressure. Once you guys get a couple of outings down, it'll be a lot more easier to invite her out alone later on down the road.

yep, good advice. Shouldn't be too hard to do seeing as I see a couple times a week. I was thinking of mentioning to her that we should do something when I see her at that event she's doing but maybe that's too soon.
