I'm really new to working out I go to the gym 3 days a week and plan on going more in couple of months. I think I over stretched my leg(thigh) muscles though. They have really been painful to strech or lay on. I'm going to the gym again today after missing Wednesday. I don't want to overdue it today so light treadmil then work on my arms chest and back. While I'm on the subject what is the best way to work on abs???

Could be a muscle strain, could also be that you're sore from your last workout and you don't know the difference between soreness and pain yet seeing as you're new to all this.

Is the pain sharp and localized and does it get much worse with touch, or is it more of a mild burning sensation in the whole muscle? In the first case, it could be a strain and in the second it's more likely to be soreness.

I think it's just soreness but it's painful to even lay down. My arms were sore but they alright now. Just overdid it a little bit, can't wait to my next workout.
