..and other states?
I live in Austria and was quite surprised when I found out today that in the local supermarket beef is now 15 Euros per kg --> around 8.5$ per pound. This is meat from a young male cow, tasted ok, but nothing special at all.
The raise in price is partly caused by the bird flu, but its never been much cheaper here.
I guess I'll cut beef from my bulking diet...

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

Re:

Depends what part of the cow you're talking about and the quality.

For 4 burger patties, about $5. That's decent quality, but not necessarily hormone free, grass-fed.

For steak tips, steak, etc, about 4-7$ per pound. That would apply for basic, mass-market beef in the northeast.

If you go to Trader Joe's and get cage-free, free range beef, it's a bit more a pound because you're paying for the "all natural-ness" of the beef.

I love fish, but fish is more expensive, unless you buy it in the can, or box, which defeats the good quality foods possesses.

We have an oversupply of cows and pigs in the US which produce excessive waste products, contributing to the deteriorating ozone layer. With cow-products, much of it is subsized by the GOV and laid to waste, instead of given to the poor and homeless. It's a way of price-fixing and firming up supply and demand so we don't suffer the shocks other nations day when making basic commodities.

Start eating LAMB. Cheaper than beef, and makes a nice change.
