"She's Out of Your League"

You've said it a hundred times. Maybe a thousand. And every time you say it, you train your brain to freeze the next time she walks into the room.

Leagues are a myth invented by guys who are scared of women.

She's a person. She has bad breath in the morning. She picks songs she can't sing in the shower. She overthinks her own texts.

Walk over. Say something. The league dissolves the second you open your mouth.

When my marriage of 14 years ended, I took a year off before I did much. And then it was only get the feet wet.

After a few months, and finally moving beyond meetup.com and went to match.com, my dating life exploded.

Two month thing, back in the saddle in a week.
Now I'm faced with an 8 month thing, and am a little raw to jump back in there (liked this one more than I ever did my ex wife).

I have a lot of personal things to do which will take some time, so no stupid rush, but just curious, how long do others wait?

Thanks,

SH

"I'm Not Looking for Anything Serious Right Now"

When a woman says it, guys hear a confession. A heads-up. A scheduling conflict.

Here's the translation: I don't feel anything. Right now. With you.

Watch what happens when a man triggers actual attraction. The busy career, the recent breakup, the "not in a place to date" — all of it evaporates instantly. The same woman who was guarding her freedom is suddenly free every night.

The "22 Rules" explain why. When the right switches flip, her timeline rearranges itself around you.

I think ideally, you would have enough options that you could jump back in immediately. I know how it is though, sometimes you don't even want to look at a woman right after a breakup. But I see no reason for an extended layoff, like the year you mentioned.

What usually happens is the woman jumps back in quickly, because they have options. Guys will ask her out because she's freshly divorced or whatever, or her female friends will set her up.

But often a guy will have to do without, because he has to go out and get his own women, and after a painful breakup his head may not be in the right place for it. So again the guy has to languish alone, while the girl has a better support system built up.

But ideally, I think a guy should jump back in as soon as possible. Get right back on the horse, as the saying goes. That's why Roissy says "keep two in the kitty".
