This is one of the funniest article, whose original intent was to be serious and inspiring, I've read. Some excerpts that cracked me up:

Manuel Uribe, who once weighed a half-ton but has slimmed down to about 700 pounds,
His most recent attempt to escape the house -- to attend Solis' 38th birthday party in March -- fell through when a flatbed tow truck brought to transport his reinforced bed got caught beneath an underpass.

But Uribe vowed not to be deterred: "We are in love, and this year my birthday wish is to be able to stand when we get married," he said.
"We are a couple," Uribe said. "We have sex, and in the eyes of God we are already married."
How do they POSSIBLY have sex? What does he use, the weed whacker?

Solis said her family initially opposed the match with Uribe because her first husband, who was also obese, died of respiratory failure.
Uribe, a former auto parts dealer, said his birthday party Wednesday will be a low-key dinner with the family.
Ok, so to answer the age-old question of how he got fat: he ate the freaking automobiles. And a dinner party for his birthday? Oh, the irony...

Today he says he eats small portions of food five times a day, including chicken, ham, egg-white omelets, fruit and vegetables. Sitting in bed, Uribe exercises his arms with pull-ups and by pedaling with his hands.
You mean, he STILL eats five times a day?

Hilarious find, my friend.

And no I'm not callous or cold-hearted for laughing at this poor excuse of a man. No matter how many botched liposuctions and swollen lymph nodes you get, there should be no reason for you to get up to 1000 pounds. Seek medical help early!

Realize that this woman is not an American woman. Spanish women stick around through think and thin. Their love is not based on monetary gain.

Never underestimate the power of having a strong connection with your significant other. Clearly, she has more attractive options. Clearly, she is making a huge sacrifice (literally).

Women don't draw up a list of pro's and con's about guys--it's not a rational process. This is where all the Darwin stuff goes out the window--if it was really "survival of the fittest," you would not see ANY able-bodied women with disabled men. He probably has a fun personality, a positive attitude, and the ability to connect with her and command respect from her. Most importantly, he probably doesn't run his love life based on the principle that woman will go for the highest value male they can find, and if a better deal happens to come to her, he's screwed. That kind of thinking is the antithesis of the "prize" mentality.

The evolutionary biology stuff on sosuave is based on extremely broad generalizations of a very unique and intricate species. Take it as a very interesting theory or a general guideline of understanding female behavior, but don't let it lead to paranoia in your dealings with women.

I DID find it funny that her previous husband was overweight, too. . .what a chubby chaser.

Wake up, guys. Her previous husband was obese AND HE DIED.

$$$$ Life insurance $$$$

She's not married yet. She's working hard to get him there. She gets on the policy. And she waits until nature takes its course.

Cynical? Hell yeah. But never underestimate the power of money to motivate anyone.

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.
