been at a recomp for 5 months now, wondering how I am doing, I am carb cycling, 5 days 20ish, 2 days up with heavy workouts, one light workout in the middle of the 5 low carb days, walk about 2 miles a day

early feb:

weight: 195lbs
height 6' 1"
arms 12"
waist at largest 39.5"
chest 37.5"

mid june:

weight 172lbs
height 6' 1"
arms 13.75"
waist at largest 37.5"
chest 40"

my arms are a question for me, seem to be stuck at 13.75", I am still losing fat though so I guess it is good they are sitting still, they look much bigger, want to hit 15" on those babies

Looks like your doing good.

4 exercises 2 times a week while having exercises that have a secondary effect on the arms when your not specifically working them out might work. ie. pullups and pushups both workout a primary muscle such as back and chest along with arms.

yeah, I need tips for the arms, they seem stuck at 13,75" but I am losing fat still so maybe I am humming along fine, arms do look totally different(cut looking) than they did when I started, its unbelievable how much fat your arms hold in the bicep/tricep area

Is that with you flexing your biceps??

Keep up the good work, you are making progress.

I'm on a P 90 X program right now, arms are around 20.5 inches flexed. Doing a ton of pushups/chinups/pullups, and dumbell bicep/tricep work with the program.

13.75" flexed

your upper body looks good man, I would like to get about that size, 15" arms and I would be done, my chest is getting massive as well, fat is my main concern really though, trying to pack on as much muscle as possible while doing recomp, pic:

You have a really good frame to start with. You kinda remind me of myself when I was 18 or so, and yes I know you are 27 but that is still an age when you can put on some massive amounts of muscle. I can see where if you put in the work, you could have a great body (no homo).

If I were you, I would order p 90 X, do the original 13 week program to get in great shape, and then go on a massive bulking phase with tons of deadlifts, squats, and bench presses. I can almost promise you that with that scenario, you are going to see some great results.

Keep this thread going, I will be interested to see your results. I have a p 90 x thread going as well.

Yes, he really needs to devote himself to this, nutrition as well, to see the results he wants. But he has the potential no doubt. With p 90 x, you do about 4 days a week of strength and conditioning, and one day each of yoga and pure cardio. That would be perfect for him to get ripped, then start with the heavy bulking phase. I won't lie though, to go at p 90 100% takes a lot of devotion and will power. It is HARD. Brutal.

Cordon, I'm starting to think you bought a lot of stock in the P90X corporation :D

All joking aside, its a great program for most every day people looking to get into top shape! The fact that it includes dietary guidelines makes it even more worthwhile.

Bilbo the fact that you've dropped all that weight is an amazing feat into itself. Just remember though, that your body and metabolism are gonna be a lot different now than when you were 300+ lbs. You need to pick a goal and stick with it. As trying to be too lean and add muscle is unproductive on both fronts. The p90x route that cordon is talking about is a great way to build additional conditioning before starting a heavy duty hypertrophy regimen. I'm not sure what it is about that kind training, but it really kicks up your metabolism. I was doing my own version of interval/circuit work a couple of years back, and at my peak my HR was in the mid 50s w/ a BP 110s/60s. I felt great, was lean and strong. I think that base put into a good position today of going on a long hypertrophy phase yet still trying to maintain semi-lean body comp (12-13% ish).

Good luck, and remember to really have your diet dialed in and tailored to the style of training you're doing.

fugly, I was still planning on following your advice/diet here shortly, trying to get a new job and get some things lined out ;)

#1 priority for me right now is getting rid of this gut and love handles, I want the muscle as well of course but doing both at once is damn near impossible, been at it 5 months and while results are there it is damn slow
