But does the guy who is suave actually have "status" in a manner of speaking in that he would be considered high value among women? I mean, if a guy comes across smooth and it looks like he has a lot of female options, isn't that a form of "status" in itself? In fact, aren't good looks even a form of status, in a way? Not in the traditional sense of the word, but in effect?
So now all of a sudden looks and personality are status? Lets not start mixing this all around. Each are their own thing. When we talk of status on this forum, we generally speak of fame and money. Now does someone's looks and personality carry their own importance and possibly create perceptions in other peoples minds? Yes. But let's not call it status, as here we usually have an agreed upon meaning more the word.
Also, I feel youre making the assumption that a girl automatically believes that a guy who is suave is entertaining a ton of options. This is not always the case. Also, many times a woman interprets a guy as being more charismatic because her attraction to him made banter flow better in the first place.
Ive seen good looking men pull women easily despite the girl knowing for a fact that the dude didnt have much cash. Ive had it happen to me personally. The woman wanted to get it on because she was physically attracted to me...not because she assumed I had money or other women chasing me. Same goes for personality. How many times have we heard guys complain "whys she with that guy?". We all have known or seen a guy who didnt have loot, wasnt model looking, but got his girl because their personalities clicked. This happens with people all the time.
I think a guy should strive to find a woman whos attracted to him on the basis of his personality and appearance. Because thats always unique from person to person. The way you relate to someone personality wise (emotional and mental attraction), and also the way their presence affects you physically (sexual attraction), is unique between every person.
A good looking woman can find status with more than enough men. And these women are usually leeches. Which is why I disagree with neil's point...I dont think status is interchangeable with other things that draw a woman to a man. Guys can date whoever they want, but I think you find more genuine women when you take status evaluations out of the equation.
I dont want a chick banging me because of what she thinks she may be able to sponge of me. I want her with me because of how we relate and our true attraction for each other as people. Thats just me though. I dont get hung up on status. If guys can pull with it, by all means...but it doesnt feel real to me. Status has its part in dating, of course...but I dont feel it creates the same attraction a woman feels for a man who shes mentally, emotionally, or physically attracted to. I feel a woman gets all of that generally from a guys personality and physical appeal.
