How did you manage to be pragmatic?

What has helped you in life to become more realistic, pragmatic, and to change your conception of romance (the one originally told from your mother, culture), and actually see it as it is, a big bullsh1t, and treat it as such, without ruining or destroying your positive outlook on life as a man?

And how did you manage to maintain that form of "romance" in other areas, and apply it to your life in a healthier way?

This is a really nuanced question. Battle ground tested is my answer, the bleak realization that my attachment to the unattainable was the reason. I still wish for it, I still want it but I understand its a fantasy over the truth. No one loves you, No one will be there for you. You are the only reason for people to care in the first place so in that moment of truth you look into the mirror and you see the many who surround you.

I wonder how you can continue to love after you aknowledge, and apply this in your life (which is really what you should do as a man)
