Missed a phone call from my dad, didn't sell my silver shares and ended up losing 5% (it was all gains though) before I could short it an hour later and make 2%. I could have made about $1500 if I had sold then shorted the silver at the right time, but I was at lunch

Good luck on Monday ...
I have zero exposure to the stock and equity market right now, and am expecting a correction across the board on Monday as investors sell and hold cash. That would include a correction in silver, however it doesn't change the fundamentals of the PM market.
I'm going to wait for the mini W bottom after Monday and then re-invest in mining stocks and purchase another quantity of silver diversified into a mix of ETFs and physical bullion bars/coins.
The looming QE3 announcement (public or private) will be a strong positive indicator for the PM bull.

I was up all night dealing with some international accounts, selling and dealing with ForEx. I'm done with USD for awhile ...
Also soothing the nerves of some of our clients who are going to lose a portion of their retirement funds in the next week or so. Not my fault that they're dicing with the equity/stock market. My investments are over 250% in just under a year, while theirs declined by 2-8% in the same timeframe.
^ It sucks to be linked into the parasitic ratings agencies and relying on them and central banks for 'reliable and safe investments'. Playing the game on their terms ... Bound to lose while they buy another 200' yacht and helicopter.

That's why I stopped speculating... you have to think about it all the time. I used to get anxious thinking about, 'I could have made this' or 'I could have made that.' Not to say that it isn't worthwhile, but there is definitely a cost that comes with it.

For that reason, I try to invest based on long-term fundamentals rather than short-term technical analysis.omkara said:

I got disenfranchised with analyzing business models and company profiles before investing once I realized that in many cases it isn't the best corporation or the one with the best business model that ends up winning in today's economy. It seems to be the corporations that are closest to the government faucet (teat), or the ones with the most regulatory influence that do the best regardless of how sour their grapes are.
Example, right now some of the best technical investments are alternative energy LTDs here in Australia, however even a peak at their business model would suggest bankruptcy within five years ... So how are they such good investments? Because they have taxpayer dollars doing primetime television ad campaigns for them, and are currently heavily subsidized by Federal and international NGO dollars.
I have a mental retardation in that I'm only compelled to invest based on merit, and there is no merit in a corporation that is buoyed by forced profits and the shifting sands of politics, with a gun to the head of competitors through regulatory ear-whispering. Plenty of profit to be made, but as I said I have a mild retardation.

My thinking is along the lines of Quicksilver.
I think the market is going to correct on Monday, big time. Friday, after the markets closed, S&P downgraded U.S credit rating for the first time in history. China did the same thing to the U.S rating.
When the Tel Aviv market opened today, it went down 6% in a matter of minutes. They shut down trading.
Geither speaks to the G7 this evening, before the Asian markets open.
It doesn't look good for Monday.

I smell a huge buying opportunity before long. I have been weary of the major indecies since I felt many share prices were too costly - that and insider selling/ buying was close to 400 at one point. This drop and subsequent drops where inevitable.
