Hugh Laurie's new-found sex-symbol status is proof of how little looks can matter and how much attitude does. In the UK he was famous for a long time (15 years?) before House, as a bumbling idiot comic actor - Blackadder, Jeeves And Wooster, A Little Bit Of Fry And Laurie - and no woman would have found him attractive.
