In 1960, Hormonal Birth Control was introduced in the US. States tried to ban it or keep it from being sold. In 1965 “Griswold vs Connecticut”, in a 7-2 decision, the US Supreme Court ruled that a Connecticut law criminalizing the use of contraceptives violated the right to marital privacy, establishing a constitutional right to privacy.
Also, in 1972 “Eisenstadt v. Baird”, in a 6-1 decision, the Court ruled that a Massachusetts law banning the distribution of contraceptives to unmarried people was unconstitutional. This historic ruling established that the constitutional right to privacy applies to individuals, not just married couples.
In the decades that followed, you get Roe v Wade (which got overturned in 2022), No-Fault Divorce laws were introduced in all states making divorce easier, Introduction of Fiat Currency, extending credit to single women, and OTC hormonal birth control was introduced by the FDA in 2006, at least in the US. Birth Rates have decreased, but sexual partners increased on average.
The reason I put this on here, because it's not a new subject, but I think it gets overlooked a lot. Purely from a sexual marketplace perspective, this has probably had the largest impact on how men and women get together. Sex is not as costly as it used to be for women. There's other factors, but I believe this one was the first Domino to fall and had the largest impact.
