Honing sense of humor

I like my conversations to be funny and stimulating. Sometimes I rely on my own sense of humor but it is very situational. I'm having hard time to start conversations in funny ways. Because of that I rely on scripts that I got from other PUAs and I've tested they work. Downside is I have very few scripts thus I want to get some more material and hone my sense of humor. I wonder whether you work on your own sense of humor and how you do that.

Don't listen to PUA's for humor, they only know sexual jokes and you can't base your sense of humor around just that.

Watch some stand up comedians for inspiration, don't look at what they joke about, look at how they joke. Usually joking and being funny it's structured so that you first have a buildup (of tension) and then a punchline (that releases tension). Other than that it's just creativity, being able to construct a funny line using what's around you and the given context.
