Yes, there was a post on this. I think I have the link because I've made it before. The outcome is great...However it isn't the BEST drink, it is cheap. It gave me a horrible hangover a few times but it was definately worth it.

Dude just google for it, there's like 10^873875 sites on it. WTF I'll give a basic rundown.

The basic idea is to mix some kind of sugar with yeast in water and keep air from entering the whole thing. Under anearobic conditions (no oxygen present) yeast will 'eat' (and breath btw) the sugar and "**** out" ethanol and carbon dioxide along with various minor other chemicals.

Now there's millions of types of yeast but all you need to know for now is to get the actual fungus. The 'quck rise' stuff is usually just sodium carbonate or something and is of obviosly no use (unless you want to make horrible tasting bread) so just get the reguler bakers yeast.

Yeast will continue to make ethanol ("ferment") until it reaches an ethanol concentration that is toxic to it. For baking yeast this is about 12~14% normally. There's some math and experiance involved but your' basic recipe is to add about 2~3 teaspoons of yeast to ~5 litres of water with 20% sugar in it. Put it in a bottle with a pipe leading to a glass of water so the Co2 can escape without letting air in. keep the thing out of direct sunlight and in a desk drawer unless you live in a very cold climate.

In about an hour there should be some good bubling (CO2 evolution) and this is how you know how much fermentation is going on. In general it'll die down in a week and you get some semi-paltable alcahol (mind you even 12~ is stronger than most beer). If you really want you can distill it but I'd just add some dehydrated orange juice or something.

Now incase your wondering. Actuall wine is made by using the sugar from grapes (or whatever you choose to start from) so it makes all sorts of other compounds that give it flavor. You can try using some fruit juice (preservative free ofcourse) and adding some sugar to make it out to 20%. Suposedly with some herbs in it this is suposed to be prety good.

It's already abig post so I'll ad in 'spontanous fermentation' too. The idea here is that there's some yeast and usbale bacteria in the enviorment allways and you "capture" that and work with it. Some belgian brewers use this technique and it's used in many forms of bread (used to be very populer around the late 1800). You mix equal amounts of yeast and water and let sit for a few hours (google for this one though). Then you cover it up and wait for a few days to get rid of most of the unusables. Then you can culture this and work with it. i tried this a few months and probably screwed up but it was bloody awefull like rotten potato's and vineger. But couldnt hurt to try and hell good practise for a rainy day.

It's been a while since I brewed but it's a great hobby so have fun!

When my family lived in Saudi Arabia (alcohol is illegal) we made our own wine. It wasn't the best, but it was better than nothing. You can generally find supplies in a store in large cities, or off the web if there isn't one if your town.

We vinted ours in those large 15 litre water cooler jugs with grape juice, sugar, and wine making yeast we bought in the states. I remember there was some sort of contraption on the top, one side had a balloon and the other was a valve.

I'd stick to wine unless you know what you're doing. We tried making beer and it turned out like ****.

Hey there, all my drunk hooligans. It was I that brought the link to the underage drinkin game

The link you are looking for is http://www.warpbreach.com/6/6.html, and yes,as toddc said,it is cheap, and will give a nasty hangover if you drink to much of it.

It is great for big party's,where there will be more people to share it with,or smaller party's,when you just have a gallon or so between 15-20 people. The last time i drank some of it was a few weeks ago at a friends house.we ended up drinking close to 3 gallons between the 6 of us,and the hangover was a b1tch.
But it is definitly worth making some of it,if not just for the sheer pride factor of knowing you can make something people love, have always loved, and will always love.

you guys who are too young to buy, if your parents aren't going to let you drink now, why do you think they'll let you MAKE YOUR OWN? Just get own of your friends' older siblings to buy it for you if you don't know anybody else. Believe me, it's too much work to try to make it yourself.

Just an FYI but alcahol is alcahol. Wheter it costs 10 cents a glass or 10 bucks you drink enough it will give you a hangover.

Having said that, yo I typed out a whole condensed version of the page and ya'll ignoring it , that's weak :p

Edit:

The balloon is prety smart though, way easier than the pipe/water setup. Dont know bou wine but sometimes it can get smelly so the water can help out.

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.
