hey guys.

The whole EC thing is not really difficult for me to master in clubs and party type situations. Usually, holding eye contact and smiling helps to cement the approach (like its supposed to do). But, i find it harder to make and hold eye contact longer than the girl just on random uni or street chicks. The few times that I have managed to hold eye contact, it turned out well. What do you guys do to get over this ingrained averting eyes ridiculousness?

its not a confidence problem, cause I have no problem doing approaches normally.

just smile and then wait, and then laugh a little. I can't believe you find that people will hold their gaze longer than you. :p

In my experience, 50% of people will look at you for no more than 2 seconds, then plant their face on the ground. heh.

Especially around the college I go to. I'd say 90% of the people I walk past don't even look up. It's as if everyone should act depressed.

ive only ever met one person who holds eye contact longer than me when im talking to them, and its a dude who works at my gym, and he has one of the hottest girlfriends ever... i got over my phobia of it just by making eye contact every day with hundreds of people at my job

So, can you approach someone who broke eye contact?

it depends on what their body language says. If they giggled and had an embarrassed smile maybe, but if they were rude and blanked you, it's a no go.

welcome to my world
if they smiled and looked down, go for it.

If you're both stationary ...say at school or a cafe sitting outside/inside at some tables...make eye contact, let her look away first. Then, if she looks again, smile...or even smile and wave if she holds the smile. If she waves back, it's a definite go. If she smiles it's still a good sign.

Sometimes I've tried motioning them over, if I'm sitting down, and she's sitting away. This rarely works, but if she does come over she usually has IL.

Other times, if she averts her glance, wait until she looks again, sort of like a double-take...so you both know you've noticed each other.

Or if she does look down the first time, and you're close enough to greet her, do so. Then she'll make eye contact again, and you can smile at her.

i think it is natural for you not to want to hold eye contact. its hard for me.

ok i found something out. YOU HAVE TO SMILE!!!! or else you look totally creepy!!!!

especially me because i come stock with one of those expressions that looks like im plotting someting evil.

ok im like super into videogames, so its easy for me to create my own little world!!! something that made eye contact easier for me was just to imagine it like a video game. my goals are missions. everyone else is trying to do the same mission, but im obviously the best player in the game so when I see girls trying to be hit on by other players, i just smile and them and laugh at their misfortune of not being in my prescence. it worked sooooooooo well last night.

also i agree with whoever said at college most people dont look up. its stupid. people look down. what the hell? when i look people in the eye, they usually look down or try to look past me. i like it when its not a casual look away, its like they jerk because they get nervous.

EYE CONTACT KICKS ASS!!!!
