"She Liked You in March. It's October Now."

Attraction runs on a clock.

She flirted for weeks. Touched your arm. Found reasons to be alone with you. And you were careful. Respectful. Waiting for the right moment.

The moment had a shelf life. It expired around month two, and by the time you asked her out, she'd quietly filed you under "little brother."

One of the hardest lessons inside the 22 Rules: women rarely wait. Interest either grows or it decays, and nothing decays it faster than a man who never moves.

Make the move while she's still inventing reasons to be near you.

Case #1: I talked to this girl at the club for awhile and then asked for her number. She told me that she doesn't have a cell. I said, "That's alright because I want your home number." She then told me that she is never home! I had a good laugh and told her that that was the lamest excuse I've ever heard. I said that I wanted to hear her tell me to my face, "I don't want to give you my goddamn number." She insisted that she is never home and started to grab for my pen, saying that I could try to call. I said 'that's lame" and walked off while she sat there with a dumbfounded look on her face.

Case #2: I met this girl in my dance class and when I asked, she gave me her number with no hesitation. When I called a week later, her roommate told me that she moved to another dorm room!! (This is the middle of the semester). Riiiiight.
When I danced with her the next week, I joked around about how her roommate *said* she got kicked out of her dorm for coming in drunk in the middle of the night and puking on her sleeping people. She repeated that she moved, in an apologetic tone, but *curiously* never offered her new number. NEXT!

Half the fun of asking for numbers is hearing the whoppers these ladies come up with when they don't want to give the digits.

"You'll Never Feel READY to Walk Over"

Next Monday you'll feel more confident. After the gym you'll feel more confident. After one more drink you'll feel more confident. After you get a better haircut, a better jacket, a better job.

You've been "getting ready" for two years.

She's standing ten feet away right now. She'll be gone in four minutes. No amount of preparation will manufacture the courage that only comes from moving your feet.

Walk over. Stumble through the first sentence. Let it be clumsy. Let it be imperfect. You will feel more alive in those ten seconds than you have all month.

A friend of mine switched housing four times last semester.

I'm not saying it doesn't happen but it's awfully suspicious to give someone your number on Thursday without telling them you are moving on Monday. Then she didn't bring it up in class until I joked around about it. The girl was BSing.
