"She Liked You in March. It's October Now."

Attraction runs on a clock.

She flirted for weeks. Touched your arm. Found reasons to be alone with you. And you were careful. Respectful. Waiting for the right moment.

The moment had a shelf life. It expired around month two, and by the time you asked her out, she'd quietly filed you under "little brother."

One of the hardest lessons inside the 22 Rules: women rarely wait. Interest either grows or it decays, and nothing decays it faster than a man who never moves.

Make the move while she's still inventing reasons to be near you.

I normally post in the High School Forum. I need the advice and opinions of people wiser than high school kids.

Is high school really the "best time of your life" and should it really be obsessed about? For me, high school started out great and kept getting better. I got more popular and my grades improved. I played lacrosse, have had jobs, go to parties, and got on some court as a prince. Then I found someone I wanted to be my girlfriend. Then she somehow randomly got a boyfriend in another county. There's not enough time to find another and I'm rather picky. There are girls I could get, but none were as fun. I've been sort of depressed ever since. Everything I've worked on seems to be a waste of time and for nothing now.

What I want to know is this: 1) Does high school matter in the long run of life? 2) about the transition from high school to college 3) and about the stratification of society in high school (jocks, nerds, metalheads, emo kids, etc.) and its influence on who dates who. Is there a stratification after high school and college?

A lot of time, high school is depicted as being something people dwell on for the rest of their lives.

"I'm Not Looking for Anything Serious Right Now"

When a woman says it, guys hear a confession. A heads-up. A scheduling conflict.

Here's the translation: I don't feel anything. Right now. With you.

Watch what happens when a man triggers actual attraction. The busy career, the recent breakup, the "not in a place to date" — all of it evaporates instantly. The same woman who was guarding her freedom is suddenly free every night.

The "22 Rules" explain why. When the right switches flip, her timeline rearranges itself around you.

Well, if you were anything like me in college I either did really well in a class or I charmed the hell out of the teacher. I can think of numerous classes where the teacher was female and I got passed without actually doing any real work.

There are a few exceptions, like for example I had this teacher named ms. boatman, she was probably like 30 something at the time, but I can look back and remember now that this teacher like really liked me. This was despite the fact I had a 110% in her class and missed only 4 questions on the 350 question final.

The funky thing was that she sat next to me alot, even after she had quit the school she came back a year klater and subbed a class I was in. She was like sitting right next to me.

What was the question again?

That really depends on you. If you end up a loser, yeah, high school was the best time of your life. Otherwise, you have the whole rest of your life to look forward to.

People that glorify their high school days may do so because for them it was the best they had. For example, some of the tactics we discuss on this forum are decidedly focused on immature women. They tend to have their heyday in high school because 1) that's when their beauty is at it's peak and hence, they have the most power, and 2) they're so stupid that they won't get any further than high school, so that one time when people adored them without having to work for it was the time of their lives.

As far as high school clicques, no, it doesn't matter at all. No one cares if you were a jock in high school except for other former jocks. Same thing with other such labels.

the only thing that does matter is that a lot of people make mistakes that cost them dearly at that age. Basically, men fvck up by getting sent to jail, and women fvck up by getting pregnant young. If you can avoid those two, you can probably have a decent life for the rest of it, especially if you get a good degree.

If you did fvck up, well, you can clean up, but it takes longer, and if you don't want to do that, there's always Wal-Mart...

1) In the sense that if you deeply regret things that happen or that didn't happen, yes it matters (to you). Literally, your academics matter in a very real way as to how easy getting into your college of choice. Where you fall now in the status column only matters later on to the extent you care to let it. Or, if you've got big status now, that evaporates when you get to college (other than the fact that what helped/hurt in HS will help/hurt you later unless something changes). The scars and trophies of HS are yours to take or leave; no one else really cares long term.

2) Depends largely on the college. Do you mean the chance to start over as a person, or do you mean the change in circumstances (more pressure, less structure, etc.)?

3) In larger schools, there is much less social order. Frats will always have better access to sorority girls, athletes will always be in some demand but if its a large school, there's tons of regular people who have to shine or not on their own. I don't know about small colleges other than stories from friends-- what I hear is that frats are critical to a social life and that life is a little more like HS.

stratification is EVERYWHERE,

but in college people appear to commingle quite well. The whole jock, metalhead, thing is still present, because people like people who are similar to them.

High school doesn't matter. The best time of your like shouldn't be any single chapter. Think of a book that has a great openning, but every other chapter sucks. Don't live that way, make the best out of everyday and soon your chapters will create a wonderful book.

"She's Out of Your League"

You've said it a hundred times. Maybe a thousand. And every time you say it, you train your brain to freeze the next time she walks into the room.

Leagues are a myth invented by guys who are scared of women.

She's a person. She has bad breath in the morning. She picks songs she can't sing in the shower. She overthinks her own texts.

Walk over. Say something. The league dissolves the second you open your mouth.

You all are probably right. I just feel like I wasted my entire career because I never had a "high school sweet heart". The closest thing I had to that was some b!tch who either played me like a fiddle, or I just hesitated too long to get (she has a boyfriend now). Everything that reminds me of her puts me in a non-DJish mood. I was certain this girl would be easy and I didn't think she was in demand.

I'm just the wrong personality to do well in high school. Everyone seems so fake. I see people walk up and down the halls shaking hands with everyone and patting backs like a bunch of policians. If there were babies, they'd all get kissed by these people. They are trying desperately to make friends with people who have nothing in common with them. They are attention hogs. There are male drama queen divas. These people are so fake, yet they seem to do very well.

I'm not a total loser though. I have friends and go to parties and stuff, often times I'm the center of the attention. I'm known for saying amazing quotable quotes. I was a homecoming prince and I'm on the ballot for prom king. Sometimes I think I'm more of a court jester than a DJ though.

Maybe I just need a shrink. But if word of that ever got out, I'd instantly be banished.
