"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

Hi! I graduated 1 year ago from high school. During the last year or so of high school, I had this crush on a girl there. She was a real popular girl, with a lot of friends, but probably no more than a 7,5 - 8. We never talked much, but when we did, our conversation was great, and she seemed to like me. In never had the balls to do shyt about it though.

At the time a wrote her 2 poems (which are really, really beautiful, but probably as desperate and ass-kissing as the most desperate Bryan Adams stuff). Now, I had always had a plan of giving these to her sometime. I wanted to just call her (having her number from the phone book, not from her) and tell her I had something that was her's, and we must get 2gether:nervous: . But I've been having second thoughts. I only get this shot at this chick, and there's no rush.

What should I do? And should I show her the poems at all?

"Nervous Around Beautiful Women? There's a Rule for That"

I could talk to any woman I wasn't attracted to. Charming, funny, relaxed. Then a gorgeous woman looked my way and I'd become a sweating, babbling mess.

The fix took me years to find and ten minutes to learn. Nervousness and excitement are the same physical state — pounding heart, adrenaline, flushed face. Your brain just picks the label. And you can pick a better one.

Rule 16 shows you how. You feel the nerves, relabel them as excitement, and let that energy pour out as enthusiasm. Women notice the guy radiating it. They always do.

I would save the poems for afteryou two hit it off, so you'l flatter her once she's comfortable around you instead of freak out that a year after not being around you're all of a sudden dropping these gushy lines on her.

Don't want any longer though because the longer you wait she more out of the blue it'll be. Also, don't tell her that you've got something of hers, just tell her that you wanted to catch up on how things are going over some lunch of coffee. Something neutral where you can see if she's interested without pressuring her, because if you haven't been in touch since high school you don't want to freak her out with love poems or anything right away.

The sad thing is.. even though it works on tv and the movies if you showed the poems they'd probally be creeped out and then joke about it with friends.

Especially if you just suddenly phone her up by looking in the phone-book.

Still since you never see her, you could give it a shot. She WILL be creeped out though, and you do have a SMALL chance at getting some and a ZERO chance of being with her. If you call her up, make plans, be fun, and then eventually show the poems and spill it.. you may get some. But your never going to be with her.. you should probally move on.

The thing is this: I don't really have any other good reason to see her. I wasn't planning on acting as though I still felt like I did in those poems. Hell no. More like: Hey, you know, back then, I had this big crush on you. Wrote this stuff. Thought it would be a pity if you never got to see them, since I did put a lot of effort into it then. You can have them a nice thing to remember.

See, I didn't want to seduce her with the poems. I just wanted them as an excues for phoning her up. That would be out of the blue: but with a clear point, that the poems shouldn't have been for nothing. And then I act like she's just any girl to me, until I can take it from there (I'm quite good at getting on with girls, once I'm out with them, I just don't have enough dates to be happy bout it).

If she won't come see you just to see you, then don't give her the satisfaction of knowing that you had a massive crush on her, spent all that time writing poems, and then never got any. If she won't meet up to talk or chill, then toss the poems or save them for someone really special whom you'll find later who'll turn out to be truly deserving of your attention and creativity.

"You'll Never Feel READY to Walk Over"

Next Monday you'll feel more confident. After the gym you'll feel more confident. After one more drink you'll feel more confident. After you get a better haircut, a better jacket, a better job.

You've been "getting ready" for two years.

She's standing ten feet away right now. She'll be gone in four minutes. No amount of preparation will manufacture the courage that only comes from moving your feet.

Walk over. Stumble through the first sentence. Let it be clumsy. Let it be imperfect. You will feel more alive in those ten seconds than you have all month.
