"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

Talked to an awesome girl. Had some of the best conversations in my life - hers too. Apparently she didn't have a clue I liked her. She referred to me as a friend - told her straight up "We're not friends." She was confused and dismayed- I had to clarify, "I think of you as more than a friend." She responded, "Aww, I feel special." Me: "You should."

WTF does "I feel special" mean??? Either it's the same as "Aww, you're so sweet" = "Not gonna happen" OR "I was blindsided and am thinking about it now."

Thoughts?

"How I Made Sure No Woman Ever Friend-Zoned Me Again"

She calls you when her car breaks down. When she needs help moving. When some guy she's actually dating treats her badly.

You're the listener. The reliable one. The guy who would treat her so much better, if she'd just open her eyes.

She won't. You trained her to see you as the low-effort option — the friend who requires zero risk and zero investment. Every favor dug the hole deeper.

The "22 Rules" break the pattern. You'll stop auditioning for a role she already cast and become the man she chases instead. It starts with Rule 1.

Have you played game with her? If you have, you just don’t titillate her. If you hadn’t, you won’t now.

Your butthurt reaction ruined any prospect you may have had, if any. Imagine it like being at a ice skating rink. When you fall on your ass, girls just skate by, hopeful to meet a better skater.

Crap. Thanks for the responses - I forgot to mention - her next sentence was "I don't date much so I guess sometimes I miss the signs..." - and she seemed really scared that I didn't like her or something before I clarified. She knows I think she's attractive, and I'm pretty sure she finds me attractive, at least when we met 3 weeks ago. "You look really nice" is what she said before. If this sentence doesn't change anything, it doesn't change anything then. I appreciate the responses here 100%.

She may be sincere in appreciating you, as a person, but her hamster was letting you down easy by giving you the appearance of being down to earth.

"So, What Do You Do for Fun?"

She asks it casually, mid-sip. And you feel the floor open up, because the honest answer is work, gym, and a couple shows you're half-watching.

Women rarely say this out loud, but a man with a life is attractive before he says a word. The guy who spent Saturday deep-sea fishing and came back with photos and a story — he walks in already interesting.

The "22 Rules" pushed me to build a life worth talking about. Turns out the fastest way to be interesting to women is to be interested in your own life first.

So many thing wrong with this.

Great conversation.
Great conversation doesn't equal attraction for women. That's romcom bullshiit. Sure you can have a great conversation with a women and she might even think that's one of the reasons she likes you, but that's only after she's already super attracted to you or you've had sex. Having long deep talks with a girl before there's attraction. Well that's a one way ticket to the friendzone. Even after attraction, a girl can be in love with you, but if it's all talk and no touching, there's no mystery and she will lose attraction. That's why long distance almost never works.

Didn't have a clue you liked her

Sure, you can play push/pull, aloof, disinterested even, but if she had no clue you liked her, it means she's never thought of you romantically or sexually. That why you have to be sexual when you interact with her and I don't mean grope her tits whenever you see her(at least not at first), but build sexual tension and escalate.

We're not friends, you're more than a friend

Showed your cards too early, took away any possible sexual tension and mystery. Might as well have told her you like her. Her reaction was just a polite feigned misunderstanding of what you said and taking it as "You're so awesome, you're even better than a friend".

You look really nice

Her giving you a safe compliment, hoping you won't take it as sexual interest on her part.

You're actions are typical of a guy learning about game, but is still uncalibrated and saying the wrong things at the wrong time. "You should" could be a nice ****y line in the right context with the right tone and bodylanguage, but it this situation is just uncalibrated. Anyway, you'll get there just keep getting more experience with women and it'll all be second nature.

Well, what else would she call you? How much heat have you generated with her in these past 3 weeks? If you're grabbing her ass, feelin her up, mad makeouts, BJs, fingering, you best believe she ain't lookin at you as a plain ole "friend".

If you're going to bookstores, doily shopping, or listening to her complain about men for 4 hour stretches, you sure as hell are her special friend...in the Friend Zone.

You're friendzoned. You'll get her body 10 years from now. A great conversation doesn't mean sh*t compared to sexual escalation. But she only sees you as a friend. Your princess is in another castle.

Case closed. Please leave the courtroom so I can get some rest.

I've countered the "it's great that we're such good friends" by saying "nah, we're not friends". But I said with the cheekiest grin imaginable and a massive twinkle in my eye. And I said it in a seductive way.
The responses from the three chicks I've said it to ranged from "What? Why not? How can you say that?" to "Oh really? And why do you say that, Greasy Pig?"
My standard response is: "Well, I can say we're friends but you'll probably end up wanting more." Again, in a cheeky, seductive way with a big grin which usually ended in them punching me in the arm as they laughed their heads off
And yes, I ended up fvcking all three...eventually.
It's all in the delivery and being super confident.

In saying that, the OP's response was too sincere and direct. You have to merely plant the seed, not plough up the whole field.
Get her hamster spinning by indirectly letting her know you MIGHT be attracted to her and nuking the FZ attempt in the process.

"She Wants a Man, Not a Boy"

You asked her if she wanted to grab coffee. Then you asked if the time worked. Then you asked if the place was okay. Then you asked if she'd prefer tea.

Four questions. Four chances for her to say no. Four signals that you're terrified of making a decision.

Plan it. Pick the place. Pick the time. Tell her where to meet you. She'll either show up or she won't.

Either way, you look like a man instead of a scared little boy.
