Seriously, why is this forum titled "everything else" if the mods are just going to shut any thread down on a whim. Everyone was being polite and learning from each other. I know they don't like political threads, but it wasn't an overtly political thread, it was about healthcare more than anything. Unless you are making posts with just the purpose of saying vote for such and such a party or spamming political messages, then I say just let people talk about whatever they want. It's not like it was posted in the DJ forum. Jeez, this is the most heavily censored forum I've ever been a member of.

Yeah they could've kept it open. Or maybe at least post a warning if it was getting too political, which it was not. Or maybe just kindly ask us to be more respectful, which we were.

But I guess that just makes too much sense. Mod fail!

**** the mod who closed healthcare...stop getting off on your small amount of power on this forum its retarded and pointless.

btw universal health care sucks

it takes all the incentive out of becomeing a health care professional and you will see the number of doctors slowly be reduced in quality and quantity

the rest of the world has only seen an enormous rise in health care abilities due to technology diffusion from the usa

If you currently have too many women chasing you, calling you, harassing you, knocking on your door at 2 o'clock in the morning... then I have the simple solution for you.

Just read my free ebook 22 Rules for Massive Success With Women and do the opposite of what I recommend.

This will quickly drive all women away from you.

And you will be able to relax and to live your life in peace and quiet.

I've known some Canadians are known to travel down to the US to receive healthcare, because it sucks up there.

If you take away people's incentive to work, they will not work. End of story.

Well, this is sosuave. I can't believe you expect mods to act like men and be reasonable.

Absolutely.

Here is probably a good place to talk about the "Tragedy of the Commons."

This was an article published a few decades ago in Science magazine (a top research journal), and essentially explained the demise of a limited resource.

The story goes like this: there is a group of farmers. They own cows. Before, they all had a tiny plot of land to tend themselves and for their own cows. However, they soon decided to merge their grazing land into a "commons" that was tended by everyone, and grazed on by everyone.

It started off alright, but then people started realizing if they put more of their cows on, it would bring them in benefit while the group shared the consequences. Also, if they did not tend the commons, they could go farm and do other things while the other farmers picked up his slack.

One can see immediately the selfish farmer was simply doing what was in his best interest. As people, we always do what is in our best interest. If everyone simply acts in their best interests, as they always do, then the commons will wither, the cows will starve, and we have a tragedy on our hands.

Universal healthcare is like that commons. This simple story illustrates that free access and exorbitant demand on a finite resource will culminate in over-exploitation and tragedy. The end.
