"How I Made Sure No Woman Ever Friend-Zoned Me Again"

She calls you when her car breaks down. When she needs help moving. When some guy she's actually dating treats her badly.

You're the listener. The reliable one. The guy who would treat her so much better, if she'd just open her eyes.

She won't. You trained her to see you as the low-effort option — the friend who requires zero risk and zero investment. Every favor dug the hole deeper.

The "22 Rules" break the pattern. You'll stop auditioning for a role she already cast and become the man she chases instead. It starts with Rule 1.

Right now I am contemplating calling my ex. We have been broken up for about 2 or 3 weeks now. I was with her for almost a year. Before we started dating we were best friends for a couple of months. Now we arent even talking. I changed my cell phone number so she couldn't get in touch with me anymore cause I was trying to cut off communication. But she would call then I would call her back to see what she wanted then she would either not call back or be short so I said fvck it and changed my number to cancel the problem cause I would get kind of twisted. Sh*t was just getting crazy and out of control. But for some reason I want to talk to her just to say hi. I dont know if she has tried to call me or not. I'm wanting to call her cause I miss her. Im not planning to get back with her or anything but I just feel like talking to her. If I do actually call her I will not call her from my new number. I want to see how the convo goes first. I dont live next her anymore I did live like 5 minutes away from her but now I live further away. But I just want to talk to her. You know yea I know I have to move on which is fine and I know she probably knows that and I know I have no problem getting girls but remember she was my friend before and I just cut off everything basically on the drop of a dime by changing my number. What should I do?

"You'll Never Feel READY to Walk Over"

Next Monday you'll feel more confident. After the gym you'll feel more confident. After one more drink you'll feel more confident. After you get a better haircut, a better jacket, a better job.

You've been "getting ready" for two years.

She's standing ten feet away right now. She'll be gone in four minutes. No amount of preparation will manufacture the courage that only comes from moving your feet.

Walk over. Stumble through the first sentence. Let it be clumsy. Let it be imperfect. You will feel more alive in those ten seconds than you have all month.

 forget about it, I was in your same shoes, about 2 years ago. Broke up with my girl, then a bit later, "just wanted to talk". Trying to reclaim that 1 year of relationship. got back together. then another break up. whatever justified the inital break up you just had, will only come up again, or backfire. She mighthave met some new guys, that will only make you jealous to some degree, and take it even more to heart. The harder you try to stop loving her, the harder it will be to grieve and move on. Give her a call, and give her the chance to be your friend again, at least for a phone call here and there.

Be sure you've accepted finality, though.

NY is right .. and who broke it off with who and why? This is important .. because if she cheated and then you're giving respect to someone who doesn't respect you by calling her.

 What good would come from it but satisfying your lingering lust for her sweet supple breasts and her endearing kisses upon your neck and the tempting thoughts of that satisfying nectar that oozes from her hidden treasure?

Damn, after describing it that way I see why you want to call her!:D

But remember: you two were complete strangers to each other for a much longer amount of time.

It's always at the 2-3 week mark that many people involved in a breakup get this feeling. It will pass. You two have had what you had, and now it's over.

The loss of friendship/companionship happens alot in our lives. Maybe you had a best friend in grammar school that moved away. You promised each other you'd call/write/visit, but somehow lost contact. Maybe your buddy or girlfriend from high school went away to a new college. You stayed tight for a while, but the distance was too much. . . To borrow a phrase from Primer: The permutations are endless.

Listen to NYjets45's advice and don't call. It will only make your healing that much harder. Out of sight, out of mind.

There was a time when she wasn't around; she wasn't in your life, nor was she in your thoughts. You got along just fine then (obviously). As trite as it may sound: it's YOU time. Rediscover the things that brought you joy--here's the catch: re-involve yourself in them only if they brought about self-improvement. If your thrills came from sitting around playing Playstation, Gaycube, or Xbox, then it's time to find new things. Workout--especially lifting weights (my #1 suggestion; it's hard not feeling better about yourself when you see and feel positive changes to your body); take up boxing or kickboxing; join a wrestling club; take a few classes at a nearby college or community college (especially psych or english: trim is known to lurk in these classes), etc.

Good luck.
