Master Don Juan
So I’m in chem class and there’s this one dude who is a little bit weird. The stuff he says and does, etc. etc. Plus, he doesn’t really take care of himself either, overweight, all that stuff. I’m not here to roast the guy. But I heard some stuff he said that sounded weird to me and I thought to myself if I said those things to someone, they wouldn’t really be weirded out or annoyed by me. Instead they’d likely find it funny. Why the difference though? Well I realized that my tone and voice is a lot better (among other things). Don’t get me wrong, I exercise like hell, dress well, and I understand social etiquette better than most. But the MAIN reason why some people like me can get away with saying things without being thought of as weird is because of HOW we say it. When the professor took attendance I actually startled myself a little bit when I heard my own voice saying “Here” because of how strong and forceful it sounded. Then I listened to the other guys voices. They sounded much more timid, their voices less clear, not as commanding; basically a product of everyday society.
I can say some crazy things sometimes because firstly, my voice is congruent with my body language (strong, confident, all that good stuff). Secondly, my voice carries very well which makes people hear me better. You have to speak at your synpathetic frequency, which is when the vibration says of your throat resonate with the surrounding environment. This lets your voice be echoed by the air and everything else. I actually tend to speak softer than I normally would like because otherwise it would sound like I’m yelling without me trying to. Thirdly, I still keep things lighthearted regardless. What I mean is that my voice can seem strong, but I also can be sarcastic and laugh which puts people at ease around me. So they feel the presence of someone who can be a leader, but yet are relaxed enough to be themselves.
Obviously there is so much more that goes into it than just your voice (your demeanor, your attitude, nuances in body language, style, etc. ) but this is just one of those things that I noticed where if my voice wasn’t well-tuned to myself and the environment, then I would likely be considered weird just like that other kid even if I do take care of myself.
