I hope everyone had a good day.

For those that don't know, it's the one American holiday of the year that actually means something.

Our financial overlords allow us a few days to be thankful for everything that matters. We spend time with family, eat too much food and watch football games that nobody cares about.

Christmas used to be like this, but it's gradually become a grotesque, commercial endeavor, where gifts are the only thing anyone cares about.

At one point in time, the powers that be made an all out blitz to rid America of the Thanksgiving Holiday, but we gave them a resounding no.

We should all take time to remember the things we're thankful for.

Yes, without the phucking holiday travel

It's kind of nuts to have 2 major holidays so close together in a county as physically large as the US (and Canada). The rest of the world is a little more sane. The U.S. is also currently full of Boomers who expect everyone else to assume the travel burden.

It's a chance for family and friends to get together. That's what I meant. That's what is important.

I single handedly eliminated most xmas gift giving in my family, by pushing for Secret Santa. We all buy one gift now, rather than a dozen

An odd T-Day. I worked during the day. That evening the GF & I were invited to a dinner. About 10 people with a professional chef at a private home. The chef imbibed his wine, liberally. At one point he poured our wine and focused on us and, in front of everyone. said; she & I need to get drunk, go home & fvck all night. The conversation had all been PG rated until then.

Idk sweet potato casserole and dressing are the only things we designate specifically for Thanksgiving. We have the other dishes throughout the year.

Thanksgiving food can be whatever you want it to be, though; you can have Chinese takeout if you want. The important thing is spending time with family and/or friends and being thankful for what's good in life!
