I've never found it to be lonely, when I drive I go into a different state of mind where you don't really notice the passage of time.. Put on some music and you're set.

I used to drive to Florida straight through, 1000 miles one way, in a Nissan truck with no radio. Compared to my dad, who is an otr truck driver and drives about a thousand miles by himself almost every day, it did not seem like a big deal.

Oh, is it that type of law? I thought you were just bored because you could drive on your own now without an experienced driver in the passenger seat.

They passed something like that here a few years ago, fortunately I got my license just ahead of when the change would have mattered.

Around here I believe the law allows exceptions for family, in which case pretty much nobody follows it as its not too hard to claim someone is your cousin if you get pulled over.

Well, I can sort of see what they're going for, as I've seen plenty of friends that honestly can barely drive, get behind the wheel with some buddies and all of a sudden start showing off like they're professional stunt drivers.

Whether it's actually effective is a different story.
