Senior Don Juan
One thing that I've used as a reminder for myself is the classic film, Clash of the Titans. Remember the scene where Perseus and his men face Medusa the Gorgon on the Isle of the Dead? (There's a link to the scene at the bottom of the post for those who haven't seen it.)
Perseus and two other men went in the temple to find her. One was shot in the back because he wasn't paying attention. The other made a mistake, probably because of fear. He ended up stranded in the open, could not resist looking into Medusa's eyes, and was turned to stone. Perseus, however, was quite different. He kept calm, remembered what he knew about Medusa, and used the reflection on his shield so that he could look at her without being turned to stone. Then he used the shield, by allowing her to see HIS reflection in it. She came closer which gave him an opportunity to surprise and dispatch her with Aphrodite's sword.
I saw that the battle against Medusa is similar to our interaction with women. You have to pay attention and keep focus or you'll end up shot just like the first warrior. You have to be mindful of the power that a woman can have over the weak, or you can be turned to stone just like the second warrior; entranced by the image of the woman you've made in your mind. You MUST be like Perseus, calm and wise. You must use your shield to protect your heart, to help you see the situation for what it is, and keep you from being sucked into drama and transformed by the woman's power. As long as you look at her through this shield she can never harm you; and just as this shield protects you, it also draws her to you at the same time. This will give you an opportunity to use the sword Aphrodite has given you, your masculinity, to dispatch her defenses and seduce her, leaving you victorious. Anyway, this has served as a good motivator for me, maybe it can be for you too.
