Yeah the guy who did this was likely an ASPD.

An ASPD who wanted infamy and to horrify as many people as possible.

And indeed most of them do not kill or at least don't put themselves in a position to get caught for it.

Likely this guy just got bored of everyday life and wanted his name and this story to be immortalized and also he is probably hoping to be executed as when a sociopath has a high degree of narcissism to them they usually cannot bring themselves to "self terminate".

The source doesn't say and yes, this person although very normal on the outside must have been very f*cked in the head and I don't fantasize about killing anyone. Even my enemies I know I won't even think about it because repeated thought eventually becomes action.

This guy is obviously insane. He was reportedly EATING some of the guys body parts as he sawed them off. He's going to be committed to the psych ward probobly for the rest of his life.

What a weird world we live in. I'd love to spend a few hours across from him though...with like tempered glass between us of course. Call me crazy but I find the psychotic facinating. It's how I view alot of the people on this site and is a big part of why i come back:crackup:

ready123 is right. You are dealing with a real psycho with a knife and if you don't know what the hell you are doing you will probably die. Even if you do know what you are doing you could still die.

Also lets not forget Sep.11 and how 11 highjackers with box cutters were able to take down 3 planes filled with hundreds of people.

I think it takes time for your brain to internalise the danger and react accordingly with a given situation (especially if you never faced a situation like this before), by that time it could be too late. You could overcome by fear and won't be able to do much. Its easy to sit in your comfortable chair in front of the computer in your safe home and say "if I was there, I would have done something" but then again you weren't but 30+ people were and choose to run away.

I was pretty shocked by the story since he was sawing the head off later on and how he ate the body parts. He had a family and a job and a history of good behavior. It is amazing how so many psychos and murderers have a wife and kids and always treat them pretty well. In China there was the Guangzhou Killer who would kill prostitutes in his house while his wife was out farming with their daughter. Nice guy to her and there was supposedly tender family moments before he was executed..

For those of you with kids, would it have changed anything if the victim was your son? Is it still right to run off the bus? What if you knew your son was involved in drug trade in some way, would that suddenly make it "none of your business" that he's getting stabbed to death?

Well, in Confucius ethics and philosophy, it is permissiable, their value is family and friends first. Strangers last. Care for those closest... by a lot... But, I don't think you care to hear that.

By what I heard, the man's knife was a combat knife, so I should imagine that it is very large and very sharp. Most people arsenal usaully involve tackling the guy, no one going to charge at a very sharp knife and other actions likely require a skill level few possess.

This discussion reminds me of an article I read in a magazine (sadly I forgot what it is, I think it Times, but don't take my word on that). They found that in the incidents and studies examined, it found something very interesting. They found people trend to retain their identity and freeze (rather than panic). One incident tell how one man, who is one of the few suvivors of a Scandinavian ship sinking, he noticed that when the stop began to tilt, while he (a retired soldier, trained to react) was climbing to the exit, most of the others was just sitting there. Another incident it told at the wedding party showed that in emergencies, identity remain intact. When the fire alarm first went off, the leaders that lead people out were people who have a "leadership" position like the bride, the waiters (they lead their tables out), and so on. Even the people who go to help were the doctors and so on.

Basically, in situations never trained or experienced, people automatically freeze up and only when directly threaten (like the knife) that even the idea of running come into the head enough. To do something else, it found that people needed to be either trained/drilled or be one of the few exceptions (which noted those who do trend to have a thinking that they are their own master of their destiny along with some other qualities). This is why people do fire drills, or suppose to.

Thanks Humanist.. I've been in those situations before, where people just freeze up. I wouldn't really describe it as freezing up though, its more as if in a daze.. calm to the point of being unaware of their surroundings and being unresponsive to someone talking to them.

I don't know if anybody here remembers this event, but I was involved in it(100m away) and still have vivid memories of some parts... Not something I like to talk about... Many people just started crying even though they were still in danger and others walked around as if lost. Since then I've always tried to be the one to act first and think later.. who knows maybe one day I'll have the opportunity to save someone's life from something terrible.

I did some reading awhile back, and its something to do with sensory overload. To protect the brain, the nervous system shuts down or something. One could relate it to an electrical short-circuit.

You know what's ironic though? Each year along the coast where I live now, there are people attacked by great white sharks in open water, and others dive in headfirst to rescue them.. A few people are saved, many aren't. Most that are saved have been practically shredded by the shark and would have died had their friend not intervened.

How awful. I just spent an hour looking at his facebook tribute. He seemed like a real DJ, living his life to the extreme, and making people laugh.

What a nightmare. To be just chilling on a bus with your eyes closed, then a rambo knife in your throat. And it doesn't even end with your death. Your head sawed off, and your flesh eaten. Jesus. This Li guy obviously targeted him. The poor kid was tiny, and very good looking. Sitting in the backseat. A perfect target.

Very different situations, it's like comparing apples and oranges. I'm going to assume those people who have saved those victims getting eaten by great white sharks that they already know them. Plus since they did rescue them, I'm also going to assume they're very good swimmers and probably have had some training in lifeguarding. If you directly translate this situation into the one we have here, you get at least one person in that bus that knows Krav Maga, is super strong and is trained for knife defense. But you didn't have someone in this situation. Plus, the whole confined space thingy that you mentioned makes it 10x scarier. Can you picture trying to fight off someone bare handed while he has a knife in a place you have no freedom in?

Look, we're not saying the entire human race are total cowards. If there WAS a way to save the man, people surely would have thought of it. Back when I still lived in Canada I lived in a ghetto city and I saw people getting jumped all the time. One situation I remember clearly was when an old man was getting jumped by like 6 black kids. They were going at it at him for a good minute, and then suddenly all these guys came out of their cars with crowbars prepared to help the man. They didn't look like they know each other too. They eventually scared them away. When you're experiencing a situation where danger is involved, you think of one thing only...survival. Those people in the bus thought of the next best thing...they contained the suspect to prevent anymore deaths from happening.

I think all criminals, other than petty thieves, should be executed. Many people go to work in a daily grind of a world, to help pay for criminals to sit on their azzes and lift weights! Who cares if they want to die! Then to see shows like "Americas hardest prisons" and making them out like inspirations or figures to look up too, is rediculous!

At least cut off their hands.

Money wasted on police forces, jails, reform activities would be freed up to live the good life for those who put in the hard work!
