The carbon footprint should be more in the past as compared to now with vast areas of forests cut down.
Logically, we should have be having lesser despite having petrol guzzling machines.
Carbon dioxide is not really a problem.
But further studies needs to be done on our outer atmosphere, the layer that protects our earth from over heating due to the sun's rays.
